With Jac breathing down his neck, he is forced to assert his authority and use his new skills to help save the life of a vulnerable patient. Zosia, still reeling after the disastrous consequences of last week's surgery, has a new-found bond with her father. When Catherine O'Malley, a top transplant surgeon, arrives and Guy suggests Zosia assist her, Zosia can't help but feel Guy has an ulterior motive. It looks like Harry has gotten away with his reckless actions from last week. Rather than own up to his mistakes, Harry is busy making last minute holiday plans. However, Raf has other ideas for him.

Elliot is still in hiding after last week's Herzig operation ended badly. Fearing that Guy Self will use this as the perfect excuse to shut down his legacy, Elliot cannot face another patient. Unwilling to tolerate his self-pitying, Jac steps in and forces him to get back into surgery. Mary-Claire is left feeling increasingly isolated by Edward's snide remarks and accusations of incompetence. When a machine malfunctions on the ward, Edward is the first to blame her and questions whether she should be allowed near patients.

In an attempt to inspire his junior doctors, Sacha has arranged for a 2,000 year old Egyptian mummy to be scanned at Holby. But his plan backfires, when, under pressure from Guy to get Zosia interested in surgery, she expresses more interest in the mummy. Left with no choice, Sacha forces her into theatre, where her lack of dedication and skill nearly proves fatal. After three weeks, Jac is still unable to bond with her baby. Sick of her lack of maternal instinct, her paediatric consultant takes a stern approach, making Jac realise just how beautiful motherhood can be.

When a patient appears to recognise her from the papers, Essie is forced to consider whether she has really dealt with her past and is ready to face the future. Fletch assures Colette his new laissez-faire management style will be a breath of a fresh air on AAU after her jobsworth ways. Colette remains to be convinced that Fletch is taking the job seriously, and suspects he may have hired a new nurse for how she looks on the surface rather than her qualifications. Will the new addition to AAU be able to charm Colette as well as Fletch?
