In the original "Big Bad Beetleborgs", three average pre-teen kids entered a haunted house and encountered a crazy blue phasm named Flabber, who gaves them a wish for freeing him from a pipe organ. Their wish: to be their favorite superheroes - the Beetleborgs! But in doing so, Flabber accidentally released the Beetleborgs' enemies, the evil Magnavores, from the comic books as well. Now the kids, as the Beetleborgs, must defend their city from the Magnavores, which include Noxic, Jara, Typhus and their boss, Vexor, as they release evil creatures also out of any issue of the comics. Hiding out at the Hillhurst Mansion, which includes Flabber's child-hungry roommates, known as the House Monsters (which include Count Fangula, Mums, Frankenbeans, Wolfgang, and later Little Ghoul), the action never stops. Then in "BeetleBorgs Metallix", Art Fortunes, creator of the Beetleborgs comics, creates better and more powerful armor for the heroes, to combat a new line of evil which are created

The Beetleborgs are no match for Nukus as he blows away their powers and freezes flabber and plans to take Arthur hostage still thinking he was the one who created him Arthur confesses that it was his demented Brother Lester 'Les' Fortunes who did it. Nukus pays a visit to the charterville prison where Lester is at first Lester is scared but then he reconizes Nukus Arthur arrives to try and talk his brother out of it but he an Nukus lock him up.

Vexor and Nukus watched happily as Borgslayer continued to terrorize the Beetleborgs. Nukus told Vexor that if the Beetleborgs defeated Borgslayer, all the Magnavors would return to the comic books. The Beetleborgs tried to release Flabber from the pipe organ by repeating the same way they got Flabber out of his pipe organ the first time. The Beetleborgs defeated Borgslayer and the Magnavors, and all of the Magnavors returned to their rightful place in the comic book world. But just as the ex-Beetleborgs were about to lead a normal life, Nukus arrived.

Drew and Josh successfully find their way into the Magnavors hideout and steal an energy rod that contained the required energy to restore the Shadowborg's strength.

Wolfgang wanted to come along with the Beetleborgs and the Astral Borgs (the Lightningborg is now found to add the the team of 3 so far) to see what it's like to be in the middle of a battle against other comic monsters. And the Borgs are glad he came because he OWNED the opponents (kicked their butts).

When Art and Les Fortunes were children, they produced a homemade comic book together. Their only collaboration. Now, Les leads the Crustaceans in a quest to find where he buried it years ago. Art and the Beetleborgs are also in pursuit for it. Within its pages are the predecessors to the Beetleborgs, the Astralborgs and Mantrons.

Horribelle leaves a portrait of Flabber on the front porch. And when Flabber retrieves it, and constanly glance at it to see his beautiful self. One thing he does not know is that the painting is sucking the life out of Flabber, making him older and weaker. He refused to destroy it because he was so handsome in the portrait, but the Beetleborgs had to do something before it was fatal.
