In the first edition, handler Liam and his trusty sniffer dog Louis are called in to help officers who have collared a man attempting to make a break for it from a suspected stolen car, and are later asked to assist in tracking down a burglar, and solve the mystery of a young driver who claims to have been coerced into breaking the law by a family member. Rick Edwards and Ortis Deley join officers from Durham and Cleveland as they tackle the difficult night shift, finding out the sorts of incidents dealt with between 7pm and 7am. Ortis rides along for the pursuit a fleeing car that is driven into a dead end, while Rick is with dog handler Ian on a call to back up the firearms squad.
