Finally, the Ranger chases after Cavendish himself, and has one final showdown with his brother's killer. And true to his vow, he doesn't kill the outlaw, but just shoots the gun from his hand, and takes him to jail. Once Cavendish is locked up, the Lone Ranger and Tonto ride away before they can be thanked. And the outlaw himself becomes the first of 219 people to ask, "Who was that masked man?"

Part 2 of the Lone Ranger origin reveals how the masked man finds his horse, Silver; and how he came to use silver bullets. Tonto is sent into town to "fetch the sheriff" for the first time. Skeptical at first, the local sheriff is later convinced the Lone Ranger is on the side of law and order. It seems an old family friend of the Ranger's, Jim Blane, is being blamed for the shooting of a local judge. The real killer, Butch Cavendish, has been wounded by Blaine, and has had his men kidnap the town doctor to heal the outlaw. The sheriff and The Ranger track down the gang, and a fight ensues. The sheriff has them rounded up and the Lone Ranger slips away (also for the first time). But just then, the rest of the Cavendish gang ride in, getting the drop on the sheriff and the doctor, and taking them away. The Lone Ranger sees this and chases after the villain with a hearty "Hi-Ho Silver Away!"
