The RPG series began in 2003 on the Game Boy Advance and has since spawned a total of 8 games. Mario & Luigi: Brothership is now the first real successor since 2015 and is therefore eagerly awaited by fans. But maybe you're more down to earth. Then EMPIRE OF THE ANTS should be something for you, because it doesn't get much more down to earth than this. You control an ant and have to help your ant colony prove itself in the forest.

Super Mario versus Sonic - this duel has shaped the history of video games for decades. However, Mario now seems to have a huge lead, as Nintendo has had much more success with the Mario games than Sega has had with Sonic, even if two new Sonic movies have been released in the meantime. In this Game Two episode, however, both mascots are back at the starting line. SUPER MARIO PARTY JAMBOREE is the twelfth installment in the Mario Party series, which offers board and mini games for fun party evenings and has always destroyed friendships. But according to John, this part is something very special! With SONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS, that something special is probably not so easy to find, because this is a game for fans. But luckily we have Dennis and Shajana, who are very familiar with the Sonic universe and know exactly what to look out for, and we also have a review of the Early Access version of WINDBLOWN for you.

Season 13 - Episode 3 - Aired 9/7/2024
Big games this week: STAR WARS OUTLAWS from Ubisoft received a lot of gloating in the run-up to the launch, but at least some of the test results are convincing. VISIONS OF MANA, which naturally follows in the big (if Basti has his way, very, very, very ultra-big) footsteps of Secret of Mana from Super Nintendo, looks similar. A successor to an absolute retro classic, but one that doesn't need to hide, as Esther found out. Chris was also in London and was able to preview 3 games from Konami: METAL GEAR SOLID DELTA: SNAKE EATER is a remake of the third installment in the Metal Gear series, which is also a prequel. SILENT HILL 2 is also a remake and polishes up the classic from the Playstation 2. And DELIVER AT ALL COSTS is a small but nice top-down game where you take deliveries from A to B, drive all kinds of things over the top and try to get your car under control.

The topic of the hour: DRAGON AGE: THE VEILGUARD. There's no other way to put it, because opinions on Bioware's big new title are pouring in from all sides. For some it's too woke, for others too little RPG, for some it's GOTY and for us it's something in between. also interesting: LIFE IS STRANGE: DOUBLE EXPOSURE. Since Life is Strange: Before the Storm, Deck Nine has been working with a different studio on the adventure series than Dontnod, the studio behind the first Life is Strange. With the return of protagonist Max Caulfield, however, the game is moving very close to its origins again, and there is also the return of a legend in the indie game sector. Studio Nomada delivered an instant classic with Gris 2018. Their new game is called NEVA and not only looks just as good.

This week it's time once again for “Ausgraben!”, our ever-popular column in which we give old games that had a lasting impact on us a few minutes in the spotlight. In his retro review, Jasper shows that VAMPIRE: THE MASQUERADE - BLOODLINES may have been a bug-ridden flop at the time of its launch, but it had potential at its core and still has a loyal fanbase today - and rightly so! Microsoft's Flight Simulator is also very popular with fans and received an update this year with MICROSOFT FLIGHT SIMULATOR 2024, which was initially more of a downgrade. This is because the servers didn't really play along on release. In the meantime, however, things have improved again, which is why we put Colin's brother Oliver Gäbel, a full-time pilot, back at the controls and let him take a few laps.

LEGO HORIZON ADVENTURES transfers the popular action adventure to the world of bricks and takes Aloy and co. along for the ride. In this episode of Game Two, we also take a look back in time with a new episode entitled “Excavated”. Shasha travels back to her childhood, which was shaped by Pokémon. But not just Edition Red and Blue, but POKÈMON MYSTERY DUNGEON: EXPLORING TEAM HEAVEN, a somewhat lesser-known title that has an extremely loyal fanbase who associate many emotional moments with it. In our short review, we take a look at the indie game IS THIS GAME TRYING TO KILL ME?, which follows in the footsteps of Inscryption and also takes us to a spooky cabin. The game combines horror and puzzles with a creative gaming experience that should pick up indie horror fans.

With DRAGON QUEST 3 HD-2D REMAKE, a classic in JRPG history is now also getting a graphically chic new edition. It was criticized at the time of its announcement for its price in combination with the lack of a drive, but thanks to more power it should also have a lot to offer. Frostpunk was an absolute surprise hit when the strategy game was released in 2018. Now Frostpunk 2 is in the starting blocks, and it has packed a few more big chunks of coal in all respects. Strategy fans and story fans alike should get their money's worth here. Find out more in the review. The Plucky Squire is another game that surprised us. This indie game is not only Zelda-like, a platformer, sports game and puzzle game, but the gameplay has much more to offer. However, our initial euphoria was also accompanied by a little disillusionment. There's no underdog of the month in this week's Under the Radar, but there are a number of great mini reviews: Dungeons of Hinterberg, Dustborn, Megaloot, SCHiM, Clickolding, Farewell North, One BTN Bosses and Tavern Talk.

#12 - Black Myth: Wukong, Gamescom Indie Special | GAME TWO #344

10 million units sold in just 3 days: BLACK MYTH: WUKONG may come from an indie studio, but it is selling faster than most AAA games. The action adventure game from Chinese studio Game Science offers ultra-realistic graphics, a combat system reminiscent of titles such as God of War mixed with soulslikes and a story based on a famous Chinese legend. But despite all the accolades, the gameplay is not without its flaws, and Black Myth: Wukong is not without its flaws either. But before this review of Trant, we have to go back to Gamescom 2024, because in the last show we promised to present you with the best indie games at the trade fair and of course we want to keep that promise. From the Indie Arena Booth and Home of Indies to Raw Fury and Devolver, Markus, Basti and Kuro covered everything there was to get indie-wise at Gamescom.

In THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: ECHOES OF WISDOM, Princess Zelda finally takes on the leading role herself. And as we know the smart heiress to the throne, she's less into swords and more into magic wands. Why did we prefer to conjure beds with them? Find out in our review of the latest hit for the Nintendo Switch. Does anyone else know BAPHOMET'S CURSE: THE MYSTERY OF THE TEMPLE KNIGHTS? Of course you do! After all, we are here in Germany, the stronghold of point and click adventures. And because Baphomet's Curse, or Broken Sword as it's known in English, is one of the best representatives of the genre, Charles Cecil and his team at Revolution Software have set to work on a remake, which Jasper has taken a look at in this review. We also have ARA: HISTORY UNTOLD in the show. The 4X strategy game in the style of Sid Meier's Civilization has many similarities to the genre king for good reason.

This week we start with a game that fans of old-school PC shooters will no doubt already have on their radar: STALKER 2. After several release delays and a turbulent development history, the game from Ukrainian studio GSC Game World is finally here and John has taken a look at it. If mystical fantasy worlds are more your thing, AVOWED could be for you. After all, it comes from the role-playing game experts at Obsidian Entertainment and on paper there are a few things that sound exciting. It's still a while until the release, but Basti has played a pre-release version. At the end of the episode, things get particularly varied again. Because we've left out one or two VR games over the past few weeks, we've put together a fine selection of different VR titles. These include BATMAN: ARKHAM SHADOW and METRO AWAKENING, for example. There should be something for everyone!

#16 - Warhammer 40000: Space Marine 2, Astro Bot, WoW: The War Within | GAME TWO #346
Season 13 - Episode 4 - Aired 9/14/2024
A fat universe in which soldiers with fat armor fight fat aliens: WARHAMMER 40000: SPACE MARINE 2 continues the story of Ultramarine Titus and relies on many familiar elements. Third-person shooting, a campaign with (hopefully) exciting twists and turns and, of course, the co-op mode. The next topic of the show has a similarly large universe to offer: WORLD OF WARCRAFT. The MMO, which is now 20 years old, is still not a thing of the past and has been given an expansion with THE WAR WITHIN, which lets you explore the interior of Azeroth. ASTRO BOT is also exciting, albeit in a completely different way. After Crash Bandicoot, Nathan Drake, Sackboy and many other faces, the little robot from Team Asobi has become the PlayStation mascot of our hearts.

After our horror special last week, which can be seen exclusively in the media library, we're now putting such experiments on hold for a while and making a normal show again! And we have some catching up to do. For example, SILENT HILL 2, the remake that brings back an absolute horror classic from the PlayStation 2. You've also been asking for something about DRAGON BALL: SPARKING! ZERO and our Budokai Tenkaichi fan Dennis has finally taken a closer look at the sequel in his mind. Finally, we have something for Persona fans: METAPHOR: REFANTAZIO from Atlus brings new fodder for fans of the popular JRPG series. And although this time it's set in a fantasy world instead of a high school in Tokyo, all fans should get their money's worth here.
