Miranda is a young Argentinian woman who was raised with great affection by her adoptive family. However, she feels a strong pull to return to Mexico to learn the truth about her roots. Leo, her security guard, helps Miranda to find out the truth: she wasn't given up for adoption, but kidnapped right after birth. Determined to find those responsible, Miranda infiltrates the Lara Castillo family by exploiting her relationship with their recently arrived cousin from Chile, Javier. Unbeknownst to her, Javier is also using her to take control of the family's criminal enterprise. As Miranda seeks the truth, she is forced to face a high-stakes dilemma: choose between light and darkness, punishment and forgiveness, and the love of someone willing to die for her and someone poised to kill.

After learning that she was taken from her mother, Miranda sets out to find out why and who is responsible. Gutiérrez takes her to Diego's auto repair shop, where they share a meal with friends, which helps her relax. While changing suitcases, Miranda meets Javier Lara Castillo. Unaware of his family's history of abuse against Gabriela, he invites her to his family's nightclub, where she is mistaken for an employee. Javier rescues her from the misunderstanding and invites her to his party, where she intends to confront Emiliano, the man she believes to be her father. The party is interrupted by an attempt at Emiliano's life. Gutiérrez asks her to go to Diego's for her own safety. They catch the shooter, unaware that there is still greater danger lurking: the thugs on Miranda's tail.

Her only clue is her adoption papers. Her adoptive mother hires Leo Gutiérrez, a former military man, to protect her. Meanwhile, Javier Lara Castillo returns to Mexico to join his powerful family. Their network of human trafficking and corruption extends throughout the entire region. Miranda learns that she was not adopted, but kidnapped. Her biological mother, Gabriela, is in a mental institution. Gabriela is tormented by the abuse she suffered at the hands of the Lara Castillo family. When Miranda receives a message about her missing suitcase, she stumbles upon a disturbing name: Javier Lara Castillo.

#3 - Nobody Said it Was Easy

Pablo breaks into Alas Rotas and unlocks a back door to let Gutierrez in. Martín stands guard. Gerardo realizes that Javier stole the safe. When Victoria learns that her grandfather is dead, she takes charge and blackmails Javier. Gutiérrez rescues Miranda, they go looking for Sara, but they are discovered. They save Sara during a C-section in a clandestine operating room. However, they are surprised by a shootout and Pablo dies. Victoria orders them to kill Miranda. Gerardo is arrested after burning down the place. Martín saves them. A few days later, Javier sends her a video: Martín is the one who abused Gabriela. Miranda confronts him. She cuts all ties with him. After a concert in Buenos Aires, Victoria shoots Miranda, but her father, Martín, saves her by taking the bullet instead.

#4 - Fallen Angel

Gutiérrez is tortured by Carrillo and threatened by Victoria, who claims they will sell Sara's baby and kill Miranda. Miranda is ready to take Emiliano to see Gabriela. When they meet again, Gabriela remembers how Santiago drugged and forced her into prostitution and made her write the letter that led Emiliano to believe she had left him. Miranda learns that Emiliano is not her biological father. Gutiérrez is rescued by Pablo and learns that Sara is in Alas Rotas. Realizing that Javier has concocted the whole scheme to manipulate her, Miranda pushes him away, only to be kidnapped by the Lara family. At the ranch, Emiliano kills Santiago, unaware that Javier is recording the whole thing. Miranda is held captive. Santiago intends to tear her apart by revealing who her biological father is.

#5 - Your Daughter

Javier explains that Rafael gave her up for adoption to save her, since Gabriela and she were ordered to be killed. He promises to help her expose Emiliano. Gutiérrez learns that Diego was killed, and that Sara was kidnapped in a case of mistaken identity. Guilty, Miranda parts ways with Leo so he can search for Sara. Javier takes Miranda to see Emiliano. He tells Miranda that Gabriela was the one who gave up on him and that he tried to find her, but to no avail. When he learns that Gabriela is alive, he demands to see her. But Miranda refuses. Persuaded by Javier, Emiliano agrees to offer Alcaraz a diplomatic solution. Gutiérrez finds Diego's killer but is eventually captured. Santiago discovers that Leo and Miranda are working together: she is the girl who was supposed to be dead.

Miranda arrives at Diego's house to find him dead. She desperately tries to reach Gutiérrez, who is being questioned as a suspect in Emiliano's attempted murder. Shaken, Miranda seeks refuge at Silvana's house. She considers returning to Argentina. They torture the perpetrator; Javier urges Gerardo to kill him before he reveals any information to his family. Gutiérrez is released only to find that Sara, Diego's wife, has also disappeared. Miranda reads her mother's diary and learns that Santiago disapproved of her mother's relationship with Emiliano. After a night with Leo, Miranda decides to stay. She uses Javier to get close to Emiliano, who confronts her, claiming to know who she is and why she is there. Leo realizes that Miranda may be in danger.
