The genesis of Baby Blues comes from the award-winning, internationally syndicated comic strip of the same name. The series expands the world seen in the strip and offers stories for the whole family, exposing the humorous underbelly of suburban parenting. Set in a slice of suburbia on the outskirts of normal, this irreverent new series follows the daily exploits of Darryl (voiced by Mike O'Malley, 28 Days, [movie]Deep Impact) and Wanda (voiced by Julia Sweeney, Saturday Night Live, God Said Ha!) MacPherson. A career couple in their late 20s recently transformed into two well-intentioned but weary young parents, Darryl and Wanda are dealing with the dual pressures of their new little bundle of joy, Zoe, and the dysfunctional family living next door. Baby Blues amplifies the comic strip's world by adding their mismatched fence neighbors, Carl (voiced by Joel Murray, Dharma & Greg/show]) and Melinda (voiced by Arabella Field, Godzilla) Bitterman, who serve as a shining example of ho

#1 - Rodney Moves In

Season 1 - Episode 7 - Aired 8/18/2000

Darryl and Wanda are exhausted when Zoe's excessive crying keeps them up all night. Wanda looks to Carl for some help -- who in turn is looking for some help with Rodney -- and soon sees that Rodney's the only one that can make Zoe stop crying. When he gets home from work, Darryl is amazed that Rodney is Zoe's new babysitter. Melinda is amazed when she comes over late that night to claim Rodney, only to find him sleepingly peacefully with Zoe. Wanting some time apart from her son as much as Darryl and Wanda want some time apart from Zoe's crying, Melinda leaves him there -- which is fine with the MacPhersons since it means they get to have sex that night. The next morning, Rodney doesn't want to leave and his parents don't want him to leave. Darryl makes him leave, and Zoe goes right back to crying. He and Wanda have no choice but to take Rodney in as Zoe's full-time babysitter. But it doesn't take long before the little extortionist demands money out of the MacPhersons to continue kee

To show her what a great dad he is, he agrees to put himself out again by planning another day with Carl and the kids. What Wanda doesn't know is that one of the places Carl brought Darryl to, Gumdrop Station, features a sexy showgirl who sings birthday greetings to little kids -- and whom Darryl's now infatuated with. #4 - The Bitterman Hillbillies

Season 1 - Episode 5 - Aired 8/11/2000

Carl's promotion to groundskeeper of a big-league baseball team makes Darryl green with envy, while his first purchase -- a big-screen TV -- makes Darryl bitter with jealousy. Feeling a need to compete, Darryl hangs his Scottish coat of arms proudly to show Carl how much better his ancestors were. Wanda thinks he's being ridiculous, until a saddened Bizzy says she has to resign as their babysitter, because the Bittermans lured her away with more money. While Carl and Melinda ride in the lap of luxury, Darryl fears that without Bizzy, Wanda will turn into the old Melinda. He tries to get Kenny to give him the square in the office baseball pool with the best odds, but the evil Kenny gives him his typically bad square anyway -- a 19-9 final score. Carl makes a vain attempt to patch things with the MacPhersons by inviting them and Rodney's new slave, Bizzy, to the game that Darryl just put money on. Darryl scraps his plans to bail early when Bob Costas gives the score at the top of the nin

#5 - Wanda Proof

Season 2 - Episode 1 - Aired 1/20/2002

Being a brand-new father turns Darryl into a worrywart. Wanda confesses to Bizzy that she's been lying to Darryl in regards to Zoe, because he thinks she's an irresponsible mother. Perhaps rightfully so, since Zoe rolls off the changing table while the two are talking. Wanda rushes Zoe to Dr. Gruber to get stitches in her head, and Darryl learns the truth when he arrives at the hospital later. Since Wanda never read ""Changing Table Safety,"" Darryl decides to make the house more 'Wanda proof' -- er, baby proof -- by hiring baby-proofer Mr. Saunders to inspect their house and see what's unsafe. Everything apparently. So, following Saunders' advice, the MacPhersons turn their home into a safe haven, complete with a padded cell nursery for Zoe. Wanda thinks Darryl's overdoing it, but soon sees maybe he isn't when she takes Zoe's temperature rectally with a mercury thermometer, and the tip breaks off. So it's back to the emergency room. Dr. Gruber gets the tip out and says Zoe will be fine,

Bizzy lets her hoodlum boyfriend, Ray, abuse her, because she feels he's ""hurtin' inside"" and needs someone to help him. It reminds Darryl of when he tried to impress a girl, Becky Quillen, but she had her eye on good-looking bad boy Flack Mueller instead. Rodney is hurtin' inside when Zoe develops her first crush on Shelby, and stops paying attention to him. Bizzy is hurtin' inside after she overhears Darryl talking to Rodney about bad boys and nice guys. Darryl's words convince her to dump Ray for not being a real man like Darryl. Bizzy didn't hear all of the conversation, so she is unaware he was actualy saying nice guys finish last, but he plays along after an impressed Wanda thanks him. Darryl remembers how he and his band, Darryl and the Chaos, planned to perform his love ode to Becky at the high school battle of the bands. Wanda's anxiety turns to panic when she notices Zoe's head plagued with ugly lesions. Dr. Gruber says it's cradle cap, which will clear up eventually. Though Darryl believes it won't affect Zoe's chances of getting in, he sees how much looks do count when his old boss, Mr. Thompson -- who doesn't know who he is -- parades around the office with his newer, younger wife. Wanda's hopes are dashed when Zoe develops pink eye, then falls on her face, causing a bad scab. Wanda dreads the interview so much that she ends up taking Bunny's effeminate, long-haired son, Haggot, instead. #10 - The Bad Family

Season 2 - Episode 2 - Aired 1/27/2002

As Easter nears, Darryl wishes the Bittermans would move out, as he considers them the neighborhood's bad family. The Bittermans, meanwhile, have the same opinion of them, after first catching Wanda apparently hammered while holding Zoe in one hand and a jug of whiskey in the other (in reality, she and Darryl were responsibly dumping it down the drain), then Darryl apparently peeping on them from up in his tree (in reality, he's organizing the easter egg hunt this year, and was looking for good hiding places). The Bittermans gossip to Rex and Josie about the drunk and the peeping tom. Soon, these and other untruthful stories have spread, and no one will give the MacPhersons the time of day. Darryl and Wanda begin to panic when the block holds a secret town meeting and doesn't invite them. After they get caught red handed in the act of hiding easter eggs, and Mrs. Johnson removes Darryl from the egg hunt committee, Darryl and Wanda decide to play dirty -- if everybody thinks they're a b

Darryl doesn't have a secret room, so Carl gives him a teddy bear with a hidden cam located in its eye. Meanwhile, when Wanda gives Bizzy a ride to a trendy club, she realizes just how far out of the loop she's gotten since she had Zoe. In an attempt to get hip again, Wanda hires Bizzy to come over a few extra nights a week, hoping Bizzy's influence will rub off. Darryl decides to use the opportunity to test Carl's Teddy-Cam, and check out what Bizzy and Johnny are doing when she's supposed to be watching Zoe. Darryl is at first relieved when he views the first night's tape, showing Bizzy blowing off Johnny to take care of Zoe -- until Wanda comes home and starts flirting
