As the new King of the Elephants, Babar's first decision is to build a city for his people. Not only does Rataxes want to build a city too, but Babar also has to deal with the countless problems that his obsession with building his city quickly raises.

Forced to run away from the jungle by the Hunter, Babar makes his way to the City only to find it just as dangerous and confusing. Motherless and alone, Babar is befriended by the Old Lady, who tries to teach him how to fit into her world, with his ultimate test at a society dinner in his honour.

Babar, the King of the Elephants tells his children the story of his family and his early life in the jungle. Babar recounts how his life was changed after his mother was killed by a hunter.

#8 - Babar's Triumph

When the Hunter returns to threaten Babar's kingdom, Babar takes matters into his own hands and gathers Rataxes and all the jungle's inhabitants. They manage to fight the Hunter and repel him once and for all.

#9 - An Elephant's Best Friend

Season 1 - Episode 9 - Aired 3/1/1989

Times are hard for Babar because Rataxes is blocking deliveries of grenades to Célesteville. But when Babar finds a warthog in the jungle, Rataxes suddenly wants to negotiate. What Babar doesn't know yet is that the warthog belongs to Rataxes' wife and that he must get it back before she realises it's missing.

While being punished for their rowdy behavior, Alexander, Flora and Pom find their father's old magic map in a dusty corner of the attic.

After following a path lined with flowers, the family finds themselves in a magical land inhabited by witches. The first friend they meet is a Witch-In-Training named Lulu.

While on a fishing adventure, Babar and his family get shipwrecked in a terrible storm. A pirate ship led by the Pirate Captain comes to their rescue and brings the family to the Pirate Mansion where a big feast is prepared.

Arthur becomes a hero when his "lead blimp" tops the jungle popularity polls. But the blimp doesn't work yet and the greatly anticipated maiden voyage is only a few hours away.

King Babar remembers when he was young and living in the city. Babar and his friends were the butt of many jokes and pranks because they were "different".

When Zéphir and Céleste have an accident, they find themselves against each other. Babar is caught in the middle two, obliged to judge and decide a case between his two friends.

Babar organises a big ballet show in Célestevile. But the star of the show, a capricious prima ballerina, causes all kinds of problems. She turns Babar's production into a disaster.
