The story is set in an ancient time, when the whole country was covered in thick forests. A mysterious plague breaks out, resulting in countless deaths. A pure young man named Yoshihiko becomes chosen as a hero, and he sets out on a journey in order to save a village. He has two goals – to bring back the legendary plant that can cure the plague, and to rescue his father Teruhiko who left to find the plant but never returned.
As Yoshihiko's party searches for the seven warriors who bear the Orbs of Destiny, Buddha points them toward a village that appears to be empty.
The team is in the netherworld and Deathstark awaits them, but it will not be easy to enter his castle. Buddha bids them to find the Staff of Change.
Centuries after Yoshihiko's victory over the dark lord Deathstark, the party faces a new Demon King but is too underleveled to do any damage.
The party arrives in FF Village and meets a tall, handsome warrior who invites them to join his rebellion.
Yoshihiko finally faces the Demon King and throws the seven Orbs of Destiny skyward to summon the seven warriors who will fight by his side.
The party enters the castle, but the Demon King’s powerful warrior, Gordon, forces them to retreat. Buddha sends them a final message.
As Yoshihiko and his allies prepare to enter the Demon King's temple, Buddha tells them they must find three powerful treasures to defeat the boss.
Yoshihiko and company arrive at the castle town, a vast city far removed from their own world. They decide to split up and search for the castle.
The party encounters four fierce demons, and Danjo challenges them. Things go wrong and the party tries to retreat, but the demons cast a spell.
After arriving in a village, Yoshihiko loses two orbs to thieves. When they learn it is a village of bandits, the party decides to find the leader.
Women are strangely absent from the village of Drape, and Yoshihiko’s party learns that a demon is responsible. They vow to save the missing women.
Radoman agrees to give Yoshihiko’s party the Dragon Shield if they manage to collect rent from his tenants, the residents of a five-story pagoda.
Having collected the magic items, the crew heads for the Demon King’s castle across the sea. Buddha says they’ll need a magic carpet to get there.
Demons threaten the village of Kaboi. The elder seeks youths who’ll become heroes, but no one volunteers. Then, an envoy arrives with miraculous news.
Buddha orders them to collect the items needed to defeat the Demon King. The team sets out to get the first item: the Celestial Maiden’s Feather Robe.
The village of Marnia ritually sacrifices local girls to the mountain god. Yoshihiko and company decide to visit this god and stop the next sacrifice.
Yoshihiko and company’s next target is the Ring of Life. When they arrive in the fairy village, they discover that the Devil Priest has stolen it.
King Samaltaria of Isis Castle possesses a key that a traveler stole from a demon he killed. The victor in the upcoming tournament wins this key.
The party enters the castle, but their equipment does not work. In order to activate it, they’ll need the Orb of Light from Deathstark’s twin brother.
In Musico Village, where the residents are constantly dancing, Yoshihiko suddenly grabs a baguette from a bakery and is arrested for stealing.
People say no one leaves the village of Oissu alive, but Yoshihiko’s party must head there to obtain the Shoes of Invincibility on Buddha’s orders.
The people of Torodaan must pay heavy taxes for protection from ghosts. The mayor has a key with an evil aura, and makes a deal with Yoshihiko for it.
Yoshihiko is told that village of Sakuura is steeped in evil. It may look peaceful, but a fearsome shaman brainwashes people to feed them to demons.
Yoshihiko and the others arrive in Moonpota. They begin searching for a warp tunnel called “Journey’s Door,” which may take them to the key.
In search of the final orb bearer, the party arrives in a school-like village. The village leader informs them a schoolgirl named Kozai has the orb.
