Johnny Domino is a well-known San Franciscan jazz musician who is accidentally struck by lightning in a freak cable-car accident. The strike allows him to telepathically recognize evil but robs him of the ability to sleep. Although Night Man has no other superhuman powers on his own, he owns a special bulletproof bodysuit that gives him several abilities, including flight, holographic camouflage-style invisibility and advanced sight functions through the round red lens over his left eye including the ability to see in the dark and fire a laser beam. His arch nemesis is computer technologies billionaire Kieran Keyes.

#4 - The Ultraweb
Season 2 - Episode 1 - Aired 10/11/1998
After being struck by the fatal lightning storm a year before, computer genius Kieran Keyes created a living internet called the Ultraweb. After discovering the true identity of NightMan, Keyes lures Johnny's father Frank Dominus into the Ultraweb, ultimately creating a showdown between father and son - Dominus only knowing NightMan as Bay City's masked vigilante. NightMan threatens to put Keyes out permanently if he doesn't spare Frank's life and release him from the Ultraweb's confines. Keyes agrees to send Frank back, killing him in the process. NightMan makes a new archenemy.

Johnny Domino teams up with another of Dr Walton's patients, Trudy Thorpe, who needs his assistance in preventing the crooked Dr. Winslow Sutton from resurrecting the evil magician Barzun from the dead. Sutton's hope is to unite him with his daughter, and his wife Lucy so that they may all work together to take over the world by resurrecting more of the undead to serve as the new unhuman race. While battling Barzun's dark magic, Johnny/NightMan learns that he's a ""chosen one"" and that the lightning strike was no accident.

Tragedy seems to follow an orphaned girl whom Johnny mentors. Tragedy turns dangerous when Lilly is kidnapped by a demonic priest, and it turns out Lilly's father is a god from Celtic lore.

Keyes returns and uses his high-tech computers as well as special Tarot cards to kidnap Night Man's friends. Keyes also suggests he and Night Man may be brothers.

After Raleigh has a nightmare in which Kieren Keyes' Ultraweb causes the destruction of The House of Soul, a real nightmare occurs when the fulltime singer, Jasmine, is electrocuted during a performance by what appears to be a shorted wire in her microphone. Johnny is almost certain Keyes is trying to get a singer inside the club to keep tabs. When time-to-time singer Crystal shows up to offer herself as a sub during Jasmine's recovery, suspicion arises as to if perhaps a past singer, who wants to have a full time gig at The House of Soul, was hired out by Keyes to carry out the sabatoge. Briony, Johnny and Raleigh recall past singers and events surrounding them, hoping to piece together a suspect. When things get nearly hopeless, Jasmine return to The House of Soul, but acting differently. Raleigh discovers she's really Keyes' henchwoman, Ally, who has used Ultraweb technology to disguise herself as Jasmine.
