Allardyce left Upton Park last summer and, with new club Sunderland in relegation trouble, revenge would have tasted all the sweeter at his old stomping ground. Elsewhere, Chelsea travelled to Southampton, Stoke took on struggling Aston Villa, Watford faced Bournemouth at Vicarage Road and West Brom entertained Crystal Palace.
