Based on a popular Sega game series, The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog follows the adventures of Sonic and his buddy Miles "Tails" Prower. Sonic is the fast-movin', impatient hedgehog. Dr. Ivo Robotnik (now known as Dr. Eggman), an evil mad scientist, is constantly scheming to find a way to destroy the blue blur. But it never works, because Sonic is always one step ahead of him!

Robotnik and his idiots escape from the lions and head for ancient Mobegypt, when they can find the Emerald of Immortality. Robotnik, of course, knows that Sonic will try to stop him. But Robotnik has apparently got a surprise plan here - he tries to make sure Sonic is never born by preventing the Blue Blur's Egyptian ancestors, Masonic and Penelope, from meeting. Sonic and Tails show up, this time having used Caninestein's ""Time-Warp Boogie Board"" (the boots were hurting Sonic's feet), and manage to save Masonic from being kept under wraps. The kicker, though, is that Sonic winds up preventing his ancestors' meeting and is erased from existence. Instead of deciding to change the show's name to The Adventures of Tails the Kitsune, Tails fixes the paradox and gets Masonic and Penelope to meet, and Sonic reappears as if on cue. Scratch fails to catch Sonic as usual while piloting the Eagle Copter, and crashes into a barn in the process. The crash scatters the chicken's brains as he now believes he's Edgar Eagle, earning a turkey fangirl in the process! As for Sonic, the hedgehog has troubles of his own as Robotnik is trying to make a robot factory out of his friend Farmer Brown's farm. When the robots rip open a door to an alternate dimension, a mysterious small purple alien blob creature from another dimension falls through into Tails hands and Sonic lets him keep it. Simple? Wrong! The one problem is, the alien will only eat. . . Guess . . . Yep, chilidogs! And if it doesn't get them it grows into a huge alien, goes ballistic, and sucks everything up in sight. The alien - now named Goopster, is in constant danger as the robots would find it more useful as a weapon, and are constantly try to capture it. However, Dr. Robotnik steps in, kidnaps it and Sonic and Tails must go to rescue it! But things get really haywire when Robotnik angers the alien and it sucks up Sonic and Tails instead! The heroes eventually trick the robots into sending it home to its parents as things return back to abnormal.

His plan works to a tee, as they all end up trapped in the Zone of Confusion. Sonic could rescue Tails and get out – but Warpnik has a gun that turns everything into a monster! Trees, fish, rocks, even Robotnik's robots… And considering the Zone setting is like the inside of an insane person's head, this is going to be difficult.

Scratch and Grounder have a super-suction plate that they intend to have Sonic run over and get caught, but the suction beam goes up into outer space and hits a passing spaceship! Containing an alien inside with a squid for a head, and a large, free-floating red amoeba, Sonic and Tails find out that the alien is on his way to be crowned king of Rhombus, and if he isn't there in time, his baby brother (who wants to blow up Mobius) will be king instead! The ship lost some parts when it crashed, but particularly a red nosecone with a built-in navigation chip they need to get to Rhombus in time. There's just one problem - Grounder's nose falls off when the ship crashes, and he grabs the nosecone, thinking it's his nose. Sonic has to get it back in time to have the alien go back and be king and to keep the planet from becoming a pile of kibble in the starstream.

The Badniks go back to the Mesozoic Era and steal the Emerald of Life, but not before Robotnik kills his Dumbniks to do so by throwing them into the volcano. Sonic is too late to stop him. Robotnik and his morons (who have somehow been resurrected despite getting thrown into the lava) go back to the last three episodes to get the other Emeralds, and Sonic and Tails are too late to stop them again. Robotnik places all four Emeralds on his neck and grows larger and becomes Surpreme High Robotnik, and sends Sonic and Tails to the Big Bang. They escape and rely on theirselves (other Sonics and Tails using the time-travel devices) to defeat Robotnik.
