Eli, afraid, that Jenny will date someone else, arranges a charity Thanksgiving dinner at StuckeyBowl and enlists her help.

Pembleton and Bayliss are assigned to investigate the death of a body found at an arson. At the scene they meet an arson detective that clashes with Frank's working style. Frank hesitates chasing a suspect, and later we learn that his wife is pregnant. Munch also decides to take the exam, and when the wagering begins on who is going to pass, everyone favors Howard. While the detectives are debating whether the fire was set to cover the murder, another fire is started.

Ed and Carol stumble through the first days of their changed relationship; Mike and Nancy have their hands full with a new puppy and its dishonest breeder; Eli is bewitched by an attractive and talented pie maker.

Lloyd returns to Stuckeyville, and his new scheme is selling makeup for men. After Mark's father has a heart attack and Mark gets bad news about his own health at his annual checkup, Mike and Warren convince him to have gastric bypass surgery. Ed and Carol smooth over the rough patch in their relationship and become friendly again.

Charley's friend from medical school, Kenny, comes to visit. Faith falls for him, but there's one catch. Kenny is a doctor in the war torn desert nation of Djibouti, Africa. When Faith announces that she's moving there with him, Hope intervenes by taking her sister on a camping trip. At the same time, Edwin, Hayley's ""boyfriend"" is jealous of her crush on Kenny.
