Alone, the two share a passionate kiss.

But, after making peace with Lombardi, Valeria returns home to her uncle Giulio, the man who raised her like a daughter.

Just when peace seems to have been restored to the Ferro household, Monica, Lucia's former cell mate, pays a visit to the house and upsets the harmony that mother and daughter were slowly trying to re-establish.

Die Autopsie des Körpers zeigt jedoch, dass der Mann bereits vor dem Unfall schwer verletzt war. Inspektorin Valeria Ferro und ihr Team von der Turiner Kriminalpolizei nehmen die Ermittlungen auf. Schnell wird klar, dass sich der Lehrer kurz vorher aus dem Fenster des nahe gelegenen Hotels gestürzt hatte. Selbstmord also – aber warum? Cardani war sehr beliebt bei seinen Schülern gewesen. Auf der Suche nach der Wahrheit entdecken die Ermittler eine weitere Leiche im Hotel, die der minderjährigen Sofia. Hatte der Lehrer eine Affäre mit seiner Schülerin? Hatte es Streit zwischen ihnen gegeben, bei dem das Mädchen getötet wurde, woraufhin er sich auch umbrachte? Cardanis schwangere Ehefrau ist von der Unschuld ihres Mannes überzeugt. Valeria und ihr Team ermitteln weiter und stoßen auf ein Netzwerk von Kinderprostitution. Allerdings werden die Ermittlungen nicht nur durch den Konflikt zwischen Valeria und ihrer Mutter erschwert. Auch das berufliche und private Verhältnis zwischen der Inspektorin und Giorgio ist angespannt. Seitdem Valeria herausgefunden hat, dass Giorgio vor 17 Jahren bei dem Mord an ihrem Vater als Ermittler das Motiv ihrer Mutter nicht richtig geprüft hat, zweifelt sie an ihm. Als Giorgio den Fall von Cardani dann auch noch offiziell schließt, obwohl Valeria überzeugt davon ist, dass ihnen noch ein Puzzleteil fehlt, ermittelt sie auf eigene Faust weiter. Die Situation spitzt sich zu. Ein weiteres junges Mädchen gerät in Todesgefahr. Wird die Inspektorin den Fall rechtzeitig lösen? (Text: arte)
