Saverio Barone enters the Direzione Investigativa Antimafia (DIA) and because of his arrogance and ambitions is meeting with some hostilities from the more experienced magistrates of the team. He still has to prove his skills to them and to himself. In the meantime the boss Bagarella orders Brusca to keep the kidnapped Di Matteo's child alive as an hostage and force a recant to the authorities.

The hunt for Vito Vitale comes alive: by exploiting his lover, the pastry chef Elisa. Saverio sets a trap for the mafia boss, managing to get to his hiding place. Vitale's arrest, however, is only a brief interlude of serenity, because Saverio immediately closes himself in the bunker, obsessed with the secret investigation into Aglieri and Provenzano.

Aglieri is determined to avenge David's death by killing Bernardo Provenzano. The elderly and experienced boss, however, sensing his intentions, approaches him, surprising him, that it is his political contacts in Rome that protect him. Meanwhile, Saverio and his team have identified the area where Aglieri is hiding, but it is too large a territory.

Elia, who works as an infiltrator to identify their target, was also invited to the event.

PM Saverio Barone is in the sights of the mobster Vito Vitale. There is also another reason why the magistrate isolated himself; to work on the secret investigation into Pietro Aglieri and Bernardo Provenzano who entrusted him with his boss Elia.
