Still The King features Billy Ray Cyrus as Vernon Brownmule, aka "Burnin' Vernon," a scandal-ridden, washed-up, one-hit-wonder who was kicked out of country music, only to emerge 20 years later as the second best Elvis impersonator around. After crashing into an old country church sign during a drunken bender, he is arrested and sentenced to return and serve as the church's handyman as part of his parole. Along the way, he pretends to be the congregation's new minister and reconnects with a former one-night-stand (Joey Lauren Adams), when he learns he has a 15-year-old daughter (Madison Iseman) he's never met.

Season 1 - Episode 10 - Aired 7/31/2016
Vernon attempts to steal a guitar from Kenny Chesney's (or other star cameo) tour bus but is stopped by a Roadie that recognizes him. Vernon plays it off and the roadie invites him to the concert. Vernon takes Walt and Charlotte to the show. When the seats are less that desirable, he devises a plan to sneak them backstage. Walt and Charlotte make it but Vernon is escorted out. Kenny recognizes him and lets him stay, giving him a tour of his glamorous backstage areas -throwing Vernon's failures in his face. Kenny invites him up for a duet, and Vernon gets a taste of fame again, eating up the attention. Debbie feels guilty and takes Ronnie out to his favorite restaurant. Afterwards, they go fake hot tub shopping at Watson's pools and spas, and Debbie finds out Pamela has been fired as the spokes model, creating an opening for her dream job.

Ronnie drags Debbie and Charlotte to a "hands on a hard boat" competition where whoever can stand with a hand on the boat wins. His interns film the event for Ronnie's narcissistic documentary. He's pumped and taunts the reigning champion, Vance. Vernon also attends but leaves abruptly when he sees Charlotte take off to a boat party with Dallas and fellow musicians. Debbie follows, questioning Vernon's parenting know-how. Vernon steals a jet-boat to get there. In their pursuit from boat to boat, they party, bond, and get drunk. When they find her it is pretty PG. Walt was also at the contest but left when fellow P.M.S. members called him away to the woods where they found a "Sasquatch nest." Walt arrives only to find out they are pranking him. Determined to prove his "Son of Sasquatch" theory, Walt steals DNA evidence from Dale's trashcan. The next morning, Debbie wakes up in the boat next to Vernon. Ronnie loses the competition when an unexpected, tiny visitor emerges victorious.

Rolling Stone publishes Charlotte's article - Vernon's embarrassment is all over town. Walt meets him outside the drunk tank, and Walt accepts Vernon's apology. Dallas visits Charlotte, telling her about the article. Debbie's neighbor is arrested and Ronnie ends up owning the boat that was partially on his property. Charlotte meets Vernon outside the church as he is sneaking away; they bond. On the road, Vernon decides to return. In the bathroom, Debbie holds a positive pregnancy test after throwing up during her Hot Tub commercial filming. Vernon is listening to his congregation when the real preacher, Andy, shows up again and praises Vernon. The Sheriff and Doily arrest Vernon and Walt. Doily stops lakeside to share one last pizza with Vernon. At the same lake, Ronnie's TV Show interns film him driving the boat. A load of fireworks on board blow up...with Doily turned to that explosion in the distance, Vernon runs.
#10 - Mother Trucker
Season 1 - Episode 8 - Aired 7/17/2016
With the help of his Semi-Truck driving mama, Ruthie, Vernon and the congregation build a larger-than-last-year float for the town's parade. Debbie and Ronnie have Ruthie over for dinner. Charlotte immediately likes Ruthie, but Vernon warns her not to get too close because Ruthie will disappoint. which she does on parade day. Vernon steps up, manning the Jonah and the Whale float. Starman crashes into the float, but Vernon emerges unscathed. Walt lurks outside Dale's house and is caught in a snare trap. Dale cuts him down and they have dinner. When Walt gets home, he calls for an emergency P.M.S. meeting.

Season 1 - Episode 11 - Aired 8/7/2016
Charlotte invites Vernon to a festival she is attending to cover a band to impress her mentor at the Nashville Scene. Kenny Chesney also calls to invite Vernon to join him on stage again on the same night, Vernon eagerly accepts, thinking he can accomplish both. Walt goes with Vernon to the Chesney show, witnessing Vernon letting it all go to his head. Charlotte catches up with Dallas' band; Mabel is there, too, playing devoted manager and roadie to the band. Charlotte steps into another band dispute - helping to settle it and getting them onstage. Vernon drinks too much and treats Walt like a lackey. By the end of the night, he crosses the line with Chesney and they get into a fight on stage. Vernon is thrown out. He goes to the festival and publicly embarrasses himself, ruining Charlotte's chance with the Nashville scene, and wrecking Dallas' show.
#20 - Only the Lonely
Season 1 - Episode 12 - Aired 8/14/2016
After the embarrassment of the night before, Vernon goes to whom he thinks is his last friend, Doily, and sees he has been replaced. Debbie runs into her old friend, Pamela, who is now divorced from the Hot Tub magnate after she is caught cheating on him with Vernon. Debbie, learning the news for the first time, is hurt and gives Vernon a scathing "tell all" article Charlotte wrote about him in frustration. Debbie, head held high, arrives at what she thinks is her Hot Tub Girl crowning, but finds out it is a casting call/contest complete with three judges. Walt gets the DNA results from Dale's sample - part Sasquatch. Walt interrupts a P.M.S. meeting with his findings but ends up walking out to save and release Dale into the wild. Vernon spends the rest of the day getting drunk and ends up in a taco truck with the driver who reads him Charlotte's impressive article. Vernon goes to the church to gather his things. Parishioners spot him as he leaves. He gives them Charlotte's article to mail to Rolling Stone before running away. The Taco Truck crashes into the same sign from the pilot and Vernon ends up face down in the creek.

After picking up a newly Re-Dazzled Elvis jumpsuit from Debbie, Vernon breaks parole by crossing state lines and going with Walt to an Elvis Impersonator Contest at a casino in Tunica. Doily pursues. To Walt's chagrin, Vernon agrees to take a dive and lose the contest when Starman tells him they can make more money in side bets. But, ultimately, Vernon can't help himself and remains true to the king and wins, but the victory is cut short when a full on bar brawl breaks out between the Elvis impersonators and Johnny Cash impersonators. Charlotte and Mabel visit Dallas' band for an interview and walk in on band strife and a low-budget, cheesy music video shoot.
