Meanwhile, the commissioner and the veterinarian act as temporary parents to the found child. At the end of the episode, Marcella surprises her boyfriend with a proposal.

The head of the forestry department, Pietro, has to help the newly arrived commissioner Vincenzo Nappi solve a case of murder of a girl, where it seems to be the fault of a wolf. The new commissioner turns out not to be happy to be a guest in the forestry office and even less to share the accommodation with the veterinarian Silvia Bussolati. After the wolf hunt, it turns out that it wasn't his fault.

After several arson raids in the forest, Vincenzo and Pietro investigate the culprit together. The owner of the ski resort hired an arsonist to expand his pistes on the site of the burned-out forest. Vincenzo wrongly suspects Simone, who has a criminal record, but the boy's innocence is proven. Roberto, the son of the owner of the Flores factory, is also responsible for the fires and is accused of murder: he killed his father and set fire to the factory. His motive was that his father did not want to agree to sell the family factory to a French multinational, and he was sickly jealous of his adopted brother Simone. By coincidence, Silvia and Vincenzo enter the dance competition together, and at the end of the evening they kiss each other.

The "Giant's Tear" is a Dolomite precious stone, guarded by a goldsmith in the village. Unfortunately, the stone is stolen and the culprit is immediately sought. The goldsmith, who ended up in the hospital after the robbery, testifies against Giorgio. While Vincenzo and Silvia are cornered, Pietro, having finished sculpting the cross, goes to place it on the peak of the mountain, managing to overcome his past.
