Vera, a mother of two children, simultaneously loses her job and is left by her husband. Fortunately, she is offered a job in another town, so taking her children and belongings, she moves there for a fresh start in life. Unfortunately, whilst under way, she hits a boy with her car. Suffering from shock, she assumes the boy to be dead. But is it really Vera who killed him?

She finally finds out why she came to Ängelby and what they must do, but the brothers have different point of view on the matter. The people of Ängelby disagree about Veras role in the matter.
