Heartbeat - Season 3 - Episode 2

Convict Stevie Walsh is released from prison and is on a train back to Aidensfield to see his wife and to finish some unfinished business. In the night Aidensfield gets cut off as a severe snow storm and the whole are is unreachable. The train heading for Aidensfield then crashes when the signals fail. Nick is alone and can't get police assistance, so its up to him alone to organise a rescue mission with the villagers including Claude and George to help the passengers and see to the injured which include Gina's brother, Barry and Alex, who has suffered a head injury. The injured are taken to the village hall by the villagers until outside help can reach them. Meanwhile Kate is called out by a man, whose partner - Ellen and Walsh's ex-wife is in labour and about to give birth. To Ellen's distress, Stevie helps her and Kate when they get trapped in the snow on the way to hospital, and they end up with the train passengers in the village hall where the Kate delivers the baby. Derek Ramsey's loses his temper during a domestic row at home and storms off down the pub. He drinks heavily and Phil asks him to leave. But Derek ends up assaulting Phil, Nick and Alf. He is sentenced to 28 days, but as Phil and Alf are taking him to jail he escapes, much to Blaketon's disgust! Derek made the escape to get back to his girlfriend who is in danger. Greengrass is working as a lollipop man until an out break of pilfering occurs at the school, and he's told to leave. Claude is offended and angry at Nick because he thinks it was him who got him the sack, when really it was the Headmistress of the school who thought Claude was the guilty party.-Which of course he wasn't.

Nick and Alf go on a fishing trip to Whitby. Alf is looking forward to a weeks holiday but Nick is there undercover to investigate smuggling. Nick finds out that a container dumped at sea contains counterfeit money. Alf teaches Nick about fishing and they organise a game of poker with some of the suspected smugglers. Nick takes this opportunity to force his opponent to hand over some of the counterfeit money. They are lodging with the Stirling's who own a sailing shop. Jake Stirling helps Nick and Alf set a trap for the smugglers and they are caught. Jake's girlfriend finds out she's pregnant and he wants her to have an abortion. Kate tells her its illegal. Blaketon is taking over Nick's patch while he's away which gives him a great opportunity to keep an eye on Greengrass. However he fails to find out that he's doing a very good trade in venison!

Lady Whitly at first refuses to drop the charges against the children but later has a change of heart. Kate asks Claude to play Santa and he reluctantly agrees. Nick forgets to buy the turkey so he ends up buying a huge one from Claude! Thinking Blaketon would be alone at Christmas, Nick asks him to Christmas dinner, but he ends up bringing his son along as well. Kate knew nothing about the invitation so she looks a little surprised when she finds out they're cooking for four!

Nick investigates as to why he had the gun in the first place and eventually finds hoards of old army ammunition at Cooper's farm. Greengrass has got hold of some grenades which he uses to clear Lord Ashfordly's river of most of his trout. Mrs Swinton thinks she's pregnant and Kate gives her some pills, which will determine whether she's pregnant or not by the next day. We later see Kate taking them, she tells James that she's pregnant, but she's less than pleased with the idea. She attempts to tell Nick but backs down.

Gina is also thrilled to learn that she is now the licensee of the pub, but she feels Steve is trying to take over. Greengrass arranges to take bets on a pool game.It turns out that the butler had been going under a number of false identities and had been responsible for the shooting and burglaries. Nick tells Claude the pool table is stolen and its taken away. Claude has to find a replacement, and he does, but its a snooker table he later realises the balls are too big for the pockets! Maggie is surprised when her husband turns up in Ashfordly.

Nick finds evidence to support Rosie's claims that her husband was fitted up, possibly by Nick's predecessor in Aidensfield, Rowley Carsons who suddenly retired from the force. Blaketon warns Nick and tells him to leave it, insisting Carsons retired because he had Cancer. Nick who now believes that there was some sort of cover up persists with his investigation. Carsons turns up and confesses to fitting Tinniswood up by planting evidence in his truck. Meanwhile Phil is to marry his girlfriend who says she's pregnant. but he later finds that she has been seeing her ex-boyfriend who turns out to be the man who beat up Phil at his stag night.

A local man called Scarman is the instigator of this plan, and Nick discovers that Scarman's girlfriend is in fact the girl that Phil is seeing. Nick cannot prove that Scarman set Phil up, but there is enough evidence to let Phil off the hook and arrest Scarman. The woman confirms that Phil was with her on the night of the burglary.

The same boy is caught stealing and the next day he arrives at school with bruises. Jo suspects the worse but it turns out he got the bruises playing cricket. The boy feels he's let his dad down and runs away but ends up having an accident. Claude has ""borrowed"" one of Lord Ashfordly's prize horses to breed from, but as they're taking it back Claude spots the little boy lying on the road and takes him to hospital. Nick who has been looking for the missing horse suddenly twigs what's happened when he sees Claude in a horse box. - He says he'll forget it ever went missing if the horse is returned within two hours!

He warns his friend to be careful because he doesn’t want to see him get hurt, but Sean is angry at Jamie’s apparent concern and accuses him of being jealous of his relationship, seeing as Jamie doesn’t have one with his own father. Meanwhile, in Underworld, Danny is getting increasingly irritated by Sean’s constant posing with the flashy watch his father has bought him, so threatens to sack him if he continues to slack off in the workplace. He eventually orders Sean into the office for a ticking off, but thanks to Leanne’s intervention, he lets him keep his job. But later on Leanne tries to persuade Sean to make Jamie reconcile with his father. Will Sean agree to help? In the corner shop, Dev tells Amber off for pinching fizzy pop from the store but is completely unaware that she has also been stealing vodka as well! After school she meets Craig and Rosie outside the chippy, and produces her home made Alcopops. The trio tuck into the booze, but Dev spots his cheeky daughter and heads over for a chat. Leanne decides to take matters into her own hands regarding Danny and Jamie and seeks out Jamie to try and reconcile the pair. She tells him that Danny still loves him and reaches out to him but Danny wanders past and witnesses this. He misreads the scene and thinks that Leanne could be trying it on with his estranged son. But having had no luck with Jamie Leanne eventually persuades Violet to help. Violet asks Jamie to meet her at the pizzeria but Leanne goes instead and begs Jamie to see sense and reconcile with Danny. But Danny, suspicious after what he saw earlier, has followed Leanne to the restaurant and accuses them of having an affair. Any chance of the Baldwin boys making up is ruined immediately, as Jamie ridicules his father at such a ludicrous suggestion and marches out. Danny is left devastated as he realises any hope of making up with his son is ruined for good. Also, Jamie and Sean are still at loggerheads over Jamie’s concerns about Brian. Sean ignores his pal in the street and it’s clear that it will take a lot for these friends to be reunited. And over in the cab office, business is still quiet, and a sullen Steve gets a summons to a formal hearing of the local mini cab licensing committee, in order to review his suitability of operating a cab firm. Could this spell the end for Streetcars?

Sean can hardly believe that he is finally spending Fathers’ Day with his dad after 20 years! He meets him in the Rovers and can’t help but show him off – much to Brian’s dismay. They head off for the pizza restaurant and Brian can hardly get a word in edgeways as an excited Sean tries to make up for all the Fathers’ Day meals he has missed out on. But the wind is taken out of Sean’s sails when Brian drops a bombshell that sends him reeling and wishing that he had never dug up the past. Amber is also looking forward to spending Fathers’ Day with her dad but she is also disappointed when it becomes clear that Dev is only interested in the twins. Even a card from Amber can’t lighten his mood and she can’t help but feel second best. More problems of the paternal kind for Danny and Jamie, after Leanne’s failed attempts to get them to reconcile. Danny tries to make amends but Jamie makes it clear that he can never forgive his father – whatever day it is! Amber decides to try and make Dev feel better and sends him a card from the twins. Her plan works initially and Dev’s mood brightens considerably until he calls Sunita and discovers she didn’t send the card. As usual Amber bears the brunt of his bad temper and it does her bid to stay with Dev over the summer no good at all. David has skived off school and thinks he has kept his truancy a secret from his mum by deleting the headmaster’s phone message but his plan backfires when the headmaster turns up at the house to speak to Gail. Casualty - Season 3 - Episode 9

When a drugs rep talks to a doctor about a drug that some of his patients are taking, is now under review, he requests they all be called in for a consultation and then goes off to start his Locum duty at Casualty. An elderly patient, who took the pledge years ago is furious when Dr David Rowe tells her the gripe water she takes for indigestion, contains alcohol. A retired consultant arrives with her GP husband,knowing what's wrong and she's admitted for a cancer operation. Charlie changes Valerie's bandages and then asks her out but before she can give him her answer, there is an emergency which he has to attend to. Kevin brings his brother Robert in, unconscious and he dies. Dr David Rowe diagnoses the probable cause was his medication and blames his GP. Little does he realise, the Locum on duty is the GP, who breaks the news to Kevin.
