Meanwhile, Kitty and Edward are unhappily afloat in ""duck soup,"" as their swimming pool is invaded by waterfowl. Enter Abby, who is getting a Berkeley degree in ornithological intelligence. Role playing at a golf shop, the couple put on fake Southern accents and wind up endearing themselves to a genuine Southerner -- who turns out to be the federal judge before whom Greg must argue a cast the next day. After an evening's panic, he decides to tough it out and wins the case hands down (while mystifying Pete). But he discovers he has succeeded only too well: Judge Harper becomes the couple's best friend and constant companion, and Greg despairs at having to keep up the pretence forever -- especially when the judge comes to meet the entire extended family.

When Reba insists that Cheyenne be allowed to stay, the principal suspends the pregnant teen for three weeks, enough time to ruin her grades. First, Brock brings Barbra Jean into the group, making Reba more than unhappy. Then they begin discussing Cheyenne's situation and Reba comes up with an idea. If they keep Van out of school as long as Cheyenne is out of school, the principal will have to give in and let them both back. Why? Because they'll lose their chance at a football championship without star cornerback Van. The therapist agrees that Reba is too controlling and suggests that she just let go of a few things; do something for herself like go to a movie. Van and Cheyenne are fighting because she's finally told him that she doesn't like the things he's added to their room. Reba goes to a movie, leaving the kids to fend for themselves for dinner.

The Warners' ongoing feud with a crazy neighbor, Walt, escalates after Walt demands Greg cut down a supposedly unsafe tree on his property. Greg solves the problem by calling a town inspector, but it indirectly results in a bigger problem when Jimmy lets the inspector know that he and Christine are living permanently in the Warners' guest house -- which is against the town's zoning regulation. The inspector tells Greg about a waiver that would allow Jimmy and Christine to continue living there, but everyone on the block would have to sign it... including Walt. As he wants Jimmy and Christine to move out, Greg doesn't even bother to tell them or Kim about it until after he experiences a guilt trip over the possibility of the Hughes living miles away in poverty. When Dharma does attempt to remonstrate with Spyder, both she and Greg get their butts kicked.

After winning hundreds of thousands at craps, Lindsay and Harvard go on the spree to end all sprees, and end up having to tap into Lindsay's shadowy past to pay off their debt. Having slept with Brody's ex-girlfriend Heather (Anna Camp), Threepeat has to either tell his friend or break it off with Heather.

Brody faces a difficult choice between the job he always wanted with Mansfield and the love he never expected with Jenny. So he tries to come up with a third option. Threepeat is forced to stay with Harvard after losing his apartment, but he soon discovers Harvard's place in a converted funeral home isn't technically zoned for the living.

Then Brock walks in and hands Cheyenne the keys to a brand new (well, used) car. Reba gets upset because they had a deal with their kids: they get a new car when they can pay for half. Cheyenne and Van need to pay for their half of the car before they can use it. Cheyenne starts doing work around the house and Van takes a job at a pizza place. When Van gets promoted to pizza delivery driver, Reba has to do the driving since Van doesn't technically have a car yet. Exhausted from essentially taking on Van's job, Reba cuts the kids a check for their half of the car and calls it a baby shower gift.
