Magnum has given up life at the estate to get a "real" job as the in-house detective at the large, plush Hawaiian Gardens Hotel, where he must keep trouble out, stop prostitutes who work from the hotel, and most importantly, put an end to the rash of burglaries that have been plaguing the hotel by catching the thief, dubbed "the Catman of Kawaii".
