Sgt Sheelagh Murphy betrays more than professional concern when shots are fired as PC Des Taviner pursues the armed robbers.

CSU's prime suspect is union bar manager Keiran Thompson, but they have no firm evidence or testimony as the victim Izzy Scott was drugged before she was attacked. When Thompson is assaulted, De Costa realises this might not be the rapist's first offence, and their discovery of a previous victim reveals videotapes of the rapes - filmed by Izzy's so-called best friend Emma. With Acting DI Samantha Nixon distracted by Dougie Pritchard's threats to reveal Abi's parentage, DS Phil Hunter relentlessly pursues his theory that the armed robbery was an inside job, but he may have pushed too hard when the bank security guard kills himself. Nixon is forced to reveal to Abigail that her father is convicted child murderer Glenn Weston, but when Weston turns up at the station, she is unable to avoid father and daughter meeting face to face.

Klein investigates when Brendan Bailey, a man who murdered a young girl fourteen years previously, is attacked and robbed on the way home from the pub, and is unable to remember anything prior to the incident. Klein suspects that the attacker may be the father of another young girl who disappeared without trace just months after the first murder. When the man is exonerated, he takes it upon himself to track down Bailey and hold him at gunpoint until he reveals the location of his missing daughter's body. Klein manages to defuse the situation, but when Bailey follows him to Jamaica Wharf, Bailey is shot twice at close range, with Klein being the only witness willing to identify the mysterious gunman.

When the young girl identifies herself as Dennis Weaver's goddaughter, Hunter shows Klein a file of mugshots of Weaver's associates, and Klein identifies the gunman as John Finnegan. When Hunter lets slip to Weaver that Klein is willing to testify, Weaver's gang kidnap Klein and pump him full of heroin. Meanwhile, De Costa and Page investigate when a young illegal Russian boy is found amongst a group of yobs involved in an organised chain of football hooliganism.

Nixon discovers a link to falconry, and a raid on the local falconry society leads to Kennedy's arrest. Fox warns that more than just forensic evidence is needed to prosecute Kennedy, and reluctant witness Khadija Miah is brought into the station to identify him as her assailant. However, when Khadija runs into Kent, Young realises she could lose her job over the fact that she may have "tainted" the witness by showing her Kent's photograph. Tait's job is also on the line after his attack on Kent.

With CID scouring Kennedy's mother's flat for forensic evidence, Manson and Nixon continue their interview strategy. When Wallis finds a knife in his flat, Nixon manages to piece together the evidence and Kennedy confesses. With Kennedy behind bars, the relief attend a party organised by Okaro, but tragedy strikes when a bomb explodes.
