A male body is found in a wooded area next to the motorway. It looks as though he was literally executed. The investigation reveals that the perpetrator is obviously a woman who the dead man, Matze, picked up as a hitchhiker. André and Semir reconstruct Matze's last journey. At the gas station where the dead man was last seen, they come across important clues: the perpetrator is apparently the young gas station attendant named Anna Terjung. While they are still looking for a connection between the victim and the perpetrator, another murder occurs. André and Semir are now convinced that they are on the trail of a serial killer and believe that this is Anna. But when they get to their gas station, Anna has disappeared without a trace. A feverish search for the perpetrator begins.

Schroth's brother Manfred was not even in the transport. Schroth has fallen for misinformation that he received from an informant in the police ranks, and which costs Mitscherlich his life. The mole is Jörg Halbert, who finds things too hot after finding Mitscherlich's body and wants to get out. Schroth cannot allow that: In order to put pressure on Halbert, his son Peter is kidnapped. Halbert sees red and wants to free his son on his own...

When Zaorski's brutal brother Waczlaw arrives in Germany to seek revenge, the police must prevent him from finding the murderer.

A man staggers onto the motorway, wanders around disorientated and causes a gigantic crash. Semir, who is one of the first to arrive at the scene of the accident, recognizes the man as his old colleague Boris Neumann. But Neumann himself cannot remember anything - he suffers from severe amnesia. A short time later, the body of Neumann's wife is found in a nearby hotel. For Semir's colleague Tom, the case is clear, because all the evidence clearly points to Neumann being the perpetrator. But Semir remains skeptical. He simply cannot imagine that his former colleague is a murderer, and so he suspects Sandra, a friend of Neumann's, who is behaving strangely. But then Neumann and Sandra suddenly disappear without a trace. Apparently Tom was right with his suspicions after all. A hot lead leads to the Maria Laach monastery. When Tom and Semir reach Neumann's hiding place by helicopter, a chase for life and death begins...

Balz believes that people are possessed by the devil and wants to "free" them with poison. André also falls victim to his attack, but Semir saves him. Meanwhile, Balz is planning one last major poison attack on the motorway.
