When the Heelers are called in to investigate vandalised graves at the Mt. Thomas cemetery, Tom discovers that Nell's grave site is amongst the desecrated. The vandals have spray-painted an obscenity on the headstone and Tom's deep hurt, fuelled by rage, drives the Heelers to find the culprits. Father Brian Hegarty points out that only the Catholic section of the cemetery was attacked, and that the Blue Lite basketball team was thrashed by St Stephen's last night. The Heelers are called to the site of a demonstration against a proposed resort development in Widgeree. While they manage to allay the demonstrators' activities, emotions run high when the owners of the proposed development find themselves at a ""Murder Mystery"" weekend with the head of the demonstrators. The tension heightens with Maggie also attending the weekend for the hospital's Children's Wing charity, with PJ. As the plot of the Murder Mystery Weekend unravels so does the fabric of a number of the players' lives. The head of the development is attacked in the cellar of the Imperial and the site is vandalised. This leads to an investigation that brings the development's viability into question. A new resident, Bob Barker, comes in to the station to report a burglary. This seems normal enough until Maggie and PJ realise that Bob has had, not his contents, but his whole house stolen. They go out to investigate the property which Bob claims he hasn't seen for five years (since his aunt left it to him in her will) and find only the stumps on which the house sat. The Heelers tell Bob and his daughter Pippa that they will chase up the matter but it could be difficult, considering the theft could have occurred any time over the past five years. PJ, Tom and Tess won't tell her why, or who the strange visitors at the station are. Tess is angry when she discovers Jonesy let his friend off the hook but that is nothing compared to her anger when Jonesy unknowingly blows a major undercover operation. It turns out that Jim Deakin, who Jo took to the station, is in fact a diamond thief and is involved in a major heist and the Heelers were assisting Undercover. Jonesy, bringing a tyre to the same mechanic that Deakin was to meet his accomplice at, blew the entire operation and the Heelers discover money for the operation was found inside the tyre. Geoff and Tom goes through with the operation anyway, to save Mel's life. After Mel's operation he goes to Sydney for specail treatment. But he swears to sue Geoff and Tom. After a lot of hard times Mel realizes you can have fun in a wheel-chair - you can even sport.

Tom is treating a girl named Kim, she's burnt her hands. She falls in love with Tom and follows him everywhere which is a bit embarresing. She follows him to the airport and climbs into the cargospace in front of the plane when they go on a clinicround. They find her there after a while and she has to stay with them over night. The following day she finds out her mother will come. She is very upset and runs away. Tom finds her on top of a windmill and manages, though difficulties, get her down. They found out Kim's schizophrenic and she will go back to town for treatment.
