WordGirl follows the everyday life and superhero adventures of WordGirl as she fights crime and enriches vocabulary usage. Disguised as mild-mannered fifth grader Becky Botsford, WordGirl possesses superhero strength with the added benefit of a colossal vocabulary. She is joined in her adventures by a monkey sidekick named Captain Huggy Face. Each episode introduces up to four new vocabulary words in an engaging, humorous way. WordGirl is a superhero spoof so the storylines are funny tales of familiar stories from that genre. For children 6 to 8 years old.

Mr. Botsford is fixing a special feast for the family--his "Spicy Surprise"! He insists that it must be eaten as soon as it is done cooking. But Scoops comes by, and drags Becky into investigating a mystery with him. After some investigating, Becky realizes she is late for dinner and rushes back home, only to find out she missed her dad's special meal. He is devastated, but she convinces him to make it again for her. But when she returns to the scene with Scoops, and ends up missing dinner a second time, she ends up being "mega-grounded"! Becky, Bob, TJ and Johnson are spending the day at the city water park... right after Mrs. Botsford finishes her seemingly unending list of errands. As the kids follow Mrs. Botsford to the bank, the grocery, everywhere but the water park, TJ and Johnson amuse themselves by imagining what WordGirl would do if a villain were to suddenly appear. Becky wants to win the Key to show that there is more to her than just super speed and super strength. Trouble is, Tobey also wants to win the Key, mostly to impress his nemesis/heartthrob WordGirl.
