Meet the Rescue Bots! Chase, Heatwave, Blades, and Boulder are given a very important mission by Optimus Prime: Protect and learn about mankind. Stationed undercover on a technologically advanced island called Griffon Rock, they team up with a family of first responders, including a Chief Police Man: Charlie Burns, a Fire Fighter: Kade Burns, a Helicopter Pilot: Dani Burns, and a Construction Engineer: Graham Burns. With help from Cody Burns, the Burns family's youngest, the Rescue Bots keep the peace and keep people safe in their new home. And along the way, they learn what it really means to be a hero.

While Chase and Chief Burns pursue an out-of-control robo-landscaper through Griffin Rock, Cody Burns reports that the rest of the team might be delayed, as his siblings are having trouble coming to terms with the fact that their rescue vehicles are alien robots. A volcano suddenly threatens the island of Griffin Rock, sending the Rescue Bots and Burns family into action. The group has to put aside their differences and work together in order to save the island.

The four members of Rescue Force Sigma-17 emerge and are greeted by the Autobot leader Optimus Prime, who assigns them to work with the Burns family on an island. While the four are supposed to respond to every command the humans give them, they get fed up with it and are tempted to leave Earth. Until, an animatronic dinosaur attacks the island.

Doc Greene invents a repulsor badge that allows the wearer to be occluded from projectiles. Cody uses it to participate more on the front lines, in missions with the rest of his family, against Chief Burns concern of his safety. His superhero status, however, is halted when his repulsor badge is overloaded and projects a nonstop field, enclosing him inside. Boulder uses neutralizing gloves, also invented by Doc Greene, to bypass the repulsive field and successfully remove the badge from Cody, shortly before it detonates.

Seismic waves shake Griffin Rock, but they are artificial and caused by a reverberating loudspeaker hidden underground. Such loudspeaker is inadvertently connected remotely to Doc Greene's jukebox, where Doc Greene is practicing his dance moves. Meanwhile, Frankie creates a music video that includes footage of the Rescue Bots. Suspicious, she follows them into an underground tunnel during their mission to remove the loudspeaker inside, and attempts to converse with Heatwave. When the rocks are falling from the tunnel ceiling, Heatwave breaks from his "robot" character to save her, during which she finally learns of the Rescue Bot's secret.
