Steve is adamantly opposed, but Jaime's bionic hearing is the only way to successfully open it the vault. Jaime's body seems to be rejecting her bionics, but does not tell anyone. After the mission the rejection worsens and leads her to run aimlessly. Steve tracts her down and brings her to Rudy, but there is nothing he can do and Jaime dies.
