柔道一筋で元五輪代表候補だった主人公・黒沢心(黒木華)は、新卒で大手出版社・興都館(こうとかん)に入社。コミック誌「週刊バイブス」編集部に配属された。 待ち受けていたのは個性的な編集部の面々。 心は、先輩編集者・五百旗頭(オダギリジョー)のもとで編集のイロハを学ぶ。 連載担当漫画家との打ち合わせ、新人漫画家の発掘、担当漫画の単行本の部数決定会議、重版出来(じゅうはんしゅったい)させるための地道な活動を目にすることで、この世界に魅せられていく。 「私も重版出来させたい！」 意気込む心だが、出版業界の現実は決して甘くない。電子書籍化が進み、紙が売れない今の時代。部数が低下すれば廃刊に追い込まれるし、単行本は3巻までに火をつけなければ厳しいと言われている。 ときに時代に取り残された漫画家の再起を考え、営業担当と共に一冊の漫画を売るための秘策を考える。それでも編集部に襲い掛かる難題の数々。 看板漫画家の突然の引退宣言、そしてライバル誌「エンペラー」からの引き抜き話。 そんな逆境を乗り越えて心ら編集部は、全てをかけて青年誌1位を目指す！
