Nick Knatterton's adventures were translated into many languages, and a television cartoon show based on them was shown in the 1980s. Episodes of the show are available on DVD. The show is narrated, and the narrator is in fact the only voice actor. Characters merely squeak when they are shown talking, and the narrator then explains what was said. Knatterton himself often voices out the conclusions of his deductions by saying "Conclusion" (German: "(Ich) kombiniere!", literally: "I conclude!"), followed by the conclusion itself. This has become a kind of catch phrase for him.

The remote-controlled insect succeeded despite the best security measures, to enter the main building of Bims factory. Bruno Bims, the owner of the company calls Knatterton for help. The case seems clearly to be about industrial espionage. And behind it can really be only Kasimir Kann, a microprocessor specialist.

The chemist Leo Lauge has invented a metal melting spray which can melt drains, guns and drills (just to name a few) to a pile of goo in seconds. The formula is of course, worth a fortune. Fearing some criminal use for it, he gives one half of the microfilm which the formula is to Nick Knatterton and the other half to Paula Pokerface. But this leads to an unexpected disappearance.

A classy driver asks Nick Kantterton to accompany him to the office of Bertha Baller, the owner of Baller's weapons factory. This is because her dachshund has disappeared. Shortly after we find the dachshund back in the hands of Knatterton, but with a little extra on the diamond encrusted collar. The bug implanted on the collar can only mean that the devious Kasimir Kann is back to his old tricks.
