When Dawn and Brian were looking for a family home to raise their two boys, they settled on a house in a great neighbourhood, more for what was on the outside than the inside. Charmed by the forested backyard and creek running through the property, Brian made it a labour of love to build a backyard oasis complete with gazebo, fire pit, eating areas and a bridge over the creek. The only problem? The inside of the house was less than stellar. A choppy main floor, small kitchen and no shower in the ensuite were just the start of Dawn’s complaints. Now she has a beautiful backyard and no suitable access to it for entertaining. With the kitchen upstairs, it’s a treacherous descent to the backyard on the narrow outdoor stairs or a trip through their grungy basement mudroom — not exactly where you want to take guests. Can Jillian reconfigure and update this house to make it Dawn and Brian’s dream or can Todd find them greener pastures on the other side of the creek?

Jessica and Derek thought they had found their forever home until their twin girls arrived. Overwhelmed by toys and not enough bathrooms, Jessica is at wits' end and needs Todd to find her something bigger, immediately. Derek isn’t ready to let go of their once-perfect home, and hopes Jillian can show Jessica just how great it can be with a more functional layout.

Season 3 - Episode 12 - Aired 9/21/2015

When Talia and Travis bought a 100-year-old character home badly in need of some work, they felt optimistic that fixing it up would be a labour of love. But now their thoughts have shifted to a different kind of labour—a new baby on the way to join their toddler Wyatt, and Talia is in full panic mode. How will they function in a chopped up layout with unusable rooms and an outdated kitchen? How will four people cope with only one bathroom in the entire house, not to mention they don’t have a bedroom for the baby. Talia’s answer is to move on, but Travis plans to grow old in his old home. To have any hope of winning, Jillian will have to deliver a stunning transformation because Talia already has one foot out the door. Meanwhile, Todd must find them a perfect house that’s less turn-of-the-century and more turn-key.

Lisa and Chris met in the army, got married and wanted to buy a home in the city to start raising their family. A tough housing market proved challenging and they could only afford a tiny, quirky character house with an odd layout and even odder rooms, like an open-concept bathroom. For artist and entrepreneur Chris, it’s the perfect location, close to work and the thriving art community, and Lisa was happy for a time too, until Mike came along. Lisa re-discovered her childhood passion for riding, with a feisty horse named Mike, but the 45 minute trek each way to ride him each day has her putting pressure on Chris to move to the country so Lisa can be close to both her loves. Can Jillian help them find that lovin’ feeling with more style and function in their city home or will Todd lure them to greener pastures with the perfect home for them and Mike?

When they were first married, Rick convinced Donna to buy a house and start a family in his childhood neighbourhood. Fast forward eight years and three kids later and Donna is done with her “starter house” with its seventies décor and poor layout. Now Donna is on the hunt for a bigger, newer house with enough bedrooms for all the kids, and she’s willing to look outside their neighbourhood, but Rick is reluctant to leave his roots and his house behind. Can Jillian take this retro layout and turn their house into their forever home or will Todd dazzle them with a shiny new place with all the bedrooms, bathrooms and big backyard this growing family needs?

Season 3 - Episode 4 - Aired 7/27/2015

Lorraine loves her long-time family home that backs onto a park, even though it’s an awkward layout and falling apart. But with the last of their four kids about to move out, Geoff is ready for a fresh start in a new house that doesn’t have him playing handyman every weekend. Can Jillian convince Geoff to stay in his starter home with a beautiful, redesigned main floor and updated kitchen or can Todd come through with that perfect new place to inspire Lorraine to pack up for greener pastures?

#14 - Julie & Bernard

Season 3 - Episode 3 - Aired 7/20/2015

A hillside home with a mountain of problems has Julie and Bernard at their breaking point. Julie isn’t ready to give up on her outdated home in a family-friendly neighbourhood but Bernard thinks they are bursting at the seams. Originally thinking they would be a family of four, they had--what they like to call--a “bonus baby” and that has Bernard on a space quest for his growing family. Can Jillian reconfigure their dysfunctional and outdated home to show Bernard that size isn’t everything? Or can Todd show Julie that it’s all about the space, with a larger, open-concept home her family can grow into?

Season 3 - Episode 2 - Aired 7/13/2015

Nimira loves her unique character home, with its quirky kitchen in the basement and the funky British pub style family room, but Anastasia is over the upside-down layout and the retro rooms. Hoping to start a family soon, this couple believes the time is right for a change. Can Jillian turn this strange layout into a fun and functional family home that both Nimira and Anastasia can love again? Or can Todd find something more practical and modern, with a side order of funkiness, to convince them to break up with their unusual starter home?

#16 - Mike & Michelle

Season 3 - Episode 13 - Aired 9/28/2015

Michelle and Mike compromised to get into their dream neighbourhood – even though it meant buying a house that didn’t quite work. After a flood destroyed their basement, Michelle can’t imagine spending another minute in their home. She’s asking Todd to find her something move-in-ready, in their neighbourhood – certainly a tall order. Mike knows that with the help of Jillian, they can turn this nightmare into a dream family home and convince Michelle to stay.

#17 - Belinda & Sam

Season 3 - Episode 5 - Aired 8/3/2015

Sam and Belinda truly love their upscale neighbourhood and fantastic backyard, but struggle with the problems inside their house. Tired of beat-up bathrooms and a dysfunctional layout, Belinda is sure Todd can find them a move-in ready home with enough space for their sons' vast collection of sporting gear. Sam isn’t ready to let go of his beloved character home and hopes Jillian can bring function with an updated layout.

#18 - Alice & Jim

Season 3 - Episode 10 - Aired 9/7/2015

Alice, Jim and their four adult daughters have outgrown their suburban fixer-upper. Tired of sharing one bathroom with five women, Jim desperately needs Todd to find him a spacious, move-in-ready home. Alice sees potential amidst the chaos and hopes Jillian can give them the perfect family home, so she can stay in her beloved neighborhood.

Season 3 - Episode 9 - Aired 8/31/2015

Empty-nesters Cindy and Chris love to entertain, but their boxy townhouse is only good for serving up challenges. An awkward kitchen and no proper space for Cindy to do her art has Chris beyond frustrated. Todd is called on to find a home that better suits their lifestyle, and is ready for their retirement. While Cindy can't see the reason to pack up and move, when a few fixes from Jillian will give them exactly what they need.

#20 - Penny & Chuck

Season 3 - Episode 6 - Aired 8/10/2015

Penny moved into Chuck’s childhood home over 20 years ago, but has never quite felt settled. A dysfunctional layout without a place for her snoring husband to sleep has Penny desperate, and she hopes Todd can find them the perfect fresh start. Chuck’s roots run so deep that he can’t imagine a life beyond his four walls. He needs Jillian to transform his long-time residence into a space where Penny and their two young girls can finally feel at home.

Season 3 - Episode 1 - Aired 7/6/2015

Derek and his cello playing wife and kids love living close to family, but are divided on what to do with their dysfunctional home. Their dark, closed-off layout frustrates Derek, so he calls on Todd to find an open-concept space – specifically with a great music room. Wife Joanna sees potential in her family home and hopes Jillian can bring some much-needed harmony with a bright, spacious redesign.
