Ten thousand years ago the God of War, Jiu Chen, fought the vile demon lord in a battle so intense, it pushed him to the outermost edge of his limits. Qin Yuan tries to convince Zhong Hao to reconsider his decision in helping Demon King return and bringing doom upon the world. Heavenly Supreme Lord won't allow Jiu Chen to help Ling Xi, but tells Yun Feng to watch over Mount Youdu to prevent her from falling into Demon King's hands. Just as Yun Feng and Qing Yao are getting closer, Yuan Tong uses the Xingshen Pill to get the heavenly troops in Mount Youdu killed and frames it on Qing Yao.

Born as an orphan, Ling Xi is adopted by Lin Shao Hai because his wife is unable to bear a child. However, Ling Xi soon faces her first hurdle when Madam Lin finds out about her hearing disability.

Alerted by the trespassing, Jiu Chen rushes back to Ling Xi's rescue. Later on, Ling Xi stands trial at Ziyun Podium to find out if she has any demonic energy.

Heavenly Emperor wants to delay Ling Xi's interrogation, but Lord Tian Lei wants to execute her quickly. This happens to fit Jiu Chen's plan for Ling Xi, so he agrees, to Ling Xi's surprise. Ling Xi is utterly heartbroken and doesn't hear Jiu Chen's comforting words afterward since she has lost her hearing. Meanwhile, Mountain Spirit Tribe's Royal Leader finally discovers that her daughter is Ling Xi and tries to save her from execution.

After Jiu Chen accidentally razes Mount Zhuwu to the grounds, Lord Tian Lei is suspicious that something is up. Alarmed by the incident, Yun Feng swears that he'll take away Shennong Cauldron if Jiu Chen's life is in danger. In the Forbidden Area, Jing Xiu recalls the day he betrayed his father and clan and warns Wu of the incoming attack from Zhong Hao.

Jiu Chen sneaks out of the Heavenly Palace in his spirit form to find out about the Demon King. Upon his return, he runs into Ling Xi who is cornered by Zi Guang. When Ling Xi returns to Fuyun Palace, she asks Jiu Chen to allow her to renovate her room into a dispensary for her to practice medicine.
#22 - Hidden Truths

As Jiu Chen burns the battle report, he is relieved of his duty as War God and is on house arrest. Jiu Chen doesn't want to state his reason for not revealing what happened in Mount Youdu back then, including who he is trying to protect. Meanwhile, Royal Advisor confirms that Yuan Du is still alive.

With Jiu Chen's return, Lord Tian Lei intends to return the War God Seal to him, but he has an ulterior motive behind it. When Lord Tian Lei goes to Fuyun Palace and pushes Jiu Chen to open up a battle report, Jiu Chen does the unthinkable. Meanwhile, Ling Xi passes out after touching the totem of the Lieyi Tribe which prompts Le Bo to travel to Fuyun Palace to see her.

Hua Yan is exiled to the Mountain Spirit Tribe's Land of Nowhere on the charge of stealing Heart-Piercing Nail. After being rescued by Ling Xi, Hua Yan lays stunned when she bumps into her old acquaintance in Tianxi Palace.

When Ling Xi finds out that Jiu Chen is in Fuling Canyon, she joins him to seal the Netherworld Gate. However, Ling Xi is forced to leave Jiu Chen behind to seal the gate.
