Twelve-year-old Mitsuki Koyama was devastated when she was diagnosed with a malignant tumor of the throat. She had made a promise to the boy she loves that she would one day become a singer, but her illness made singing impossible. To make matters even worse, two Shinigami, Takuto and Meroko, appeared to Mitsuki and informed her that she only had one year left to live. This news provides an even greater motivation for Mitsuki to fulfill her dreams, and with a little bit of divine intervention, she begins her quest to become a professional singer so she can be reunited with Eichi before time runs out.

By order of the chief, they came to investigate if the rumor was true - Meroko and Takuto were using their powers to help a human child. When Izumi and Jonathan decide to check out Full Moon's release of her second single, Takuto and Meroko have to keep them from knowing that they are helping Mitsuki.

All Mitsuki has to do is make some kind of letter, saying what she really feels about Eichi.

Although Mitsuki and the rest are ready to go to America, there is still the matter of asking Mitsuki's grandmother for permission. Dr. Wakaoji tries to explain to Mitsuki's grandma that there is a doctor in America that can perform surgery on Mitsuki and not lose her voice in the process. However, she does not like the idea. Mitsuki decides to go to America anyway. However, she ends up meeting with grandma's childhood friend, who tells her about her grandma's past.
