The story begins with the wedding of Eleni and Dionysis. Dionysis owns a beer hall and is a widower with three sons (Markos, Thanasis, and Giannakis), while Eleni is a teacher and a lively woman with two daughters (Eva and Fifi). Dionysis and Eleni had fallen in love as teenagers, but Eleni left to study in Thessaloniki and married Antonis Palaiologos, as did Dionysis. Dionysis and Eleni face several challenges, mainly with Thanasis and Fifi, who are constantly at odds with each other. Eleni is also a teacher at the neighborhood school where all the children in the family attend.
