Conan, Jasmine and Snag are travelling through a forest when they come across a band of warriors who challenge them. The leader of the warriors turns out to be a youth, the ruler of the local land who was recently ousted by Wrath-Amon and his Serpent Men. Wrath-Amon covets a mystical tomb sealed within the depths of the castle, wherein is stored the essence of the Serpent Riders of Set, seven mystical 'horsemen' who served Set eons ago and who can be ressurected during the night of a blood-red moon- such as that very night.After some misunderstandings, Conan and the others agree to help the youth regain his castle. Unfortunately Wrath-Amon has arrived and is preparing for the ceremony. The lord leads Conan to the tomb of his ancestor, who sealed up the Serpent Riders in the first place. There, Conan receives the ancient armour of the hero whilst Snag's Star Metal Grappling Hook is melted down to make Star Metal horseshoes for Thunder. They return to the castle only to find that Wrath-Amon has reserrected the Serpent Riders, who simply absorb the essence of their defeated comrades and grow stronger. After a climatic battle, the Serpent Riders are destroyed and Wrath-Amon flees the scene whilst Conan and co adventure onwards.
