Momiji Fujimiya, is just an ordinary fifteen year old girl living in Izumo, or so she thought... Her twin sister Kaede supposedly died putting the Aragami to sleep. The Aragami awoke and all of them are after the Kushinada princess to kill her so they will not have to be put to sleep for thousands of years by her sacrificing herself. With the help of her guardian and protector, Mamoru Kusanagi, and the TAC, Momiji can fight off the Aragami and save Japan.

The series centers on Momiji Fujimiya, a seemingly average Japanese middle school student from Izumo. Her life is suddenly upended when she discovers she is the last living descendant of the mythical Princess Kushinada, whose special blood holds the power to defeat the Aragami. The Aragami are monstrous, plant-like creatures that manifest in Japan, seeking to destroy humanity. Momiji's destiny, according to ancient tradition, is to be a human sacrifice to appease or defeat these creatures, an idea she strongly rejects.
