Set in Akihabara in the spring of 1999, the story follows Nagomi Wahira, a bright‑eyed 17‑year‑old girl who moves to Akiba with a dream: to work at a maid café and live the “cute maid” ideal. She lands a job at the pig‑themed maid café “Ton Tokoton” (aka Oinky Doink). However, Nagomi quickly discovers that the maid‑café business in Akiba isn’t just about aprons and “moe” poses. It’s infused with cut‑throat competition, underworld machinations, and café rivalries that run deeply and dangerously.
