Trespassing on Good Faith: As a test of superiority, Sousuke and Issei compete to care for the injured school janitor; however, their overzealous efforts do more harm than good. The janitor tries to be patient, but finally goes berserk when they accidentally serve his prized koi pet to him for dinner.

Surroundings of Yukito and Misuzu briefly change from the shrine to a cropland as a result of Kano's experience. After a confrontation with Hijiri, Yukito and others briefly go to the clinic. Yukito and Misuzu leave the clinic for home. On their way Yukito realizes he wasn't paid for his part time job and sneaks back into the clinic only to overhear Kano's other personality.

Carrying the sleeping Mikuru, Kyon finds the young Haruhi herself from middle school. After helping her draw strange drawings on her school yard, Haruhi questions him on the existence o aliens, time travelers, espers, or sliders; and Kyon suggests that they might. After Haruhi leaves, Kyon wakes up Mikuru and finds that she has somehow lost her time traveling device, or TPDD. He takes her to the Yuki of three years ago and helps them return to their proper time. Chronologically this episode takes place after The Boredom of Suzumiya Haruhi.

Kyou initially passes on the chance, but ends up giving in after her sister says she wants to join, and Kotomi joins as well. During the meeting, Kotomi leaves when she hears someone playing the violin, though when she is given the chance to play it, she is painfully horrible.

Later that day, the girls go to another festival, with this one celebrating New Year. The girls discuss why Kagami is in a different class than everyone else, Konata draws a bad fortune, and the origin of Kagami's name is revealed. Konata pesters her father for money, and apparently he likes when she does that. Konata wishes her online friends a happy new year, including her teacher Kuroi. Konata starts to believe that the reason why her teacher doesn't have a boyfriend is because she's always online playing games. On Lucky Channel, it was previously announced that Akira would appear in the actual show starting with this episode, but she was unable to because she got sick.
