Mitch arrives home with his date Carrie, only to find Hobie with his date Kate in the couch. Mitch doesn't expect this and tells Hobie that he and his date has to leave or double date with him and Carrie. During their argument, Carrie and Kate decide to leave instead. After this incident, Hobie decides that it's time to move out. He wants to movie in with J.B. and Connor, but their landlord only allows two people to live there. Then Neely offers him to stay at her place if he helps her take care of Neely. This makes Mitch furious because he and Neely is not the best of friends. But Hobie has made up his mind and there's nothing Mitch can do about it. Later Hobie stops a car-thief after a big chase and some assistance from Alex. Meanwhile, Alex is going to her grandma for her 93rd birthday. On her way there while she is riding her bicycle, a man on a motorcycle brushes by her. Neely finds Hobie in the weight room. He has hurt a muscle and Neely offers to massage him. She massages the affected muscle just as Mitch is entering the room. He becomes upset and wonders what Neely is doing. He thinks that her behavior is inappropriate and is convinced that she comes onto Hobie just to get even with him. When Newmie and J.D. enter headquarters, she starts crying and tells Mitch how hard she is trying and that she is sorry for all the mistakes she might have done. J.D. and Newmie are shocked and Mitch tells them what a good actress Neely is. Later Neely gives Alex a hostile work environment complaint. After receiving this complaint from Neely, Alex confronts Mitch. She knows that the charges are pretty serious. Mitch tells her his side of the story and Alex doesn't know whom to believe. Mitch receives a call that Caroline needs all available assistance during a rescue. Apparently a young girl named Rosanna is missing. Her mother Lucinda is real worried, but she doesn't speak any English, just Spanish. When Many finally arrives to the beach, he translates everything Lucinda says. When Manny asks Rosanna's younger sister Nikki what happened, she tells Manny that Rosanna was very sad and that she waited for the lifeguard on duty, Cody, to leave his tower. When Cody left to meet Lani at the movies, Rosanna went into the water, and Nikki never saw Rosanna coming out of the water. Mitch organizes a search unit. All available lifeguards are sent to the beach. J.D. and Sheryl have been out on surfboards but couldn't find anything. Manny and April are being trained to be better lifeguards by doing a victim hoisting training exercise. Lt. Taylor Walsh keeps on eye on them and make sure that everything goes according to plans. The helicopter lowers the hoisting bed and the victim, this time a dummy, is secured. Now they need to reattach the hoisting device and give a thumb up sign to the helicopter. Everything seems to be working well but that's just until unsure grips causes the bed to tip over. This causes the victim to fall into the water. April tells Taylor that it was her fault. Taylor says that it's OK, because it was just an exercise. But still it could have been a real situation. As a small punishment for their failure, neither one of them are assigned any towers. Since they have some time off, Manny helps April with her designs for her fashion class. He tells her that her designs remind people too much about Wisconsin. He agrees to help her make them look like the clothes people are wearing in California.
Newmie has created a kite-flying contest for the benefit of the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. His nephew Todd is diabetic. While Newmie, April, Todd and some teenagers are on the pier, a man falls into the water and Newmie and April have to rescue him. Todd is a very depressed young boy, and he wants to live a normal life like all of his friends. April befriends him and Todd tells her that her uncle Mike has told him a lot about the Baywatch gang. In order to get Diane to stay away from Mitch, Alex tells her that she and Mitch is a couple. She also invites herself and Diane over to Mitch's place for dinner. When they are heading for the rescue, they are once again beaten by Bayguard, a new firm that specializes in privatizing lifeguards. When the rescue has been completed, Mitch is introduced to Alex Ryker. She is the CEO of Bayguard. She tells Mitch that she plans on going up against him for the county contract. Baywatch's contract with the county is about to expire. The next day, when Mitch goes to the Chief's office, he is surprised to find Alex there. It turns out that she has shown the Chief a videotape of some of Bayguard's amazing rescues. She has also shown the Chief a tape showcasing the Baywatch team slacking off.
