Tom Kranich's first day with the highway police starts off fast: he's late and crashes his bike into an old Benz. The driver, Susanne, is on her way to Aachen with her niece. Her passenger is businessman Ed. Susanne offers to drive Tom to the station. He accepts the offer, gets in the car and the drama begins: the accelerator has jammed, the car is speeding along. Semir learns via cell phone that his new colleague is in danger. They manage to clear the route. There is a risk that the car will fly off the road in a long bend. Tom risks his life when he tries to tear off the fuel line. The attempt goes wrong. Although they managed to avoid the dangerous bend, they are now racing towards an open drawbridge, which the district president claims is defective. Engelhardt does not believe that this is the truth, but her hands seem to be tied...

But the case has surprising twists and turns, and the net around the siblings is slowly closing in.

Tom and Semir initially investigate the case, but assume it was a random accident. But they discover that this is already the third incident in which vehicle electronics have been destroyed and that Serpente works for the mafia boss Alesso Corto. Tom and Semir are getting closer and closer to the truth and learn from the FBI that it is a deliberately deployed electromagnetic device.

Four serious criminals, led by Jan Rupert, rob a cash transporter on the highway and then flee into the forest on motorcycles. They hide the loot in a prepared hole in the ground and disguise themselves as hunters to evade the authorities. Tom Kranich, who is investigating the robbery, gets his hands on a video cassette on which the robbery was filmed. He notices the gangsters' military background, including a rare rifle, which leads to further investigations. While Semir is on vacation with Andrea, the gangsters stay in a log cabin by the lake, where Semir and Andrea also want to stay. At a chance meeting, Jan Rupert realizes that Semir is a policeman, which dramatically escalates the situation.

Semir and Tom chase a gang of former footballers and parachutists after a spectacular bank robbery. While Mosser escapes, Dalhoff and Justin hijack a bus with hostages and millions in loot. A SEK roadblock fails, and when the bus runs out of gas, the gang forces Semir to replace the driver. He discovers a time bomb on board. Mosser instructs the gang via code: they want to escape in the tunnel while the bus with the hostages rolls on uncontrollably.

When Zaorski's brutal brother Waczlaw arrives in Germany to seek revenge, the police must prevent him from finding the murderer.

The antique dealer Samuel Breuberg is robbed. The perpetrators are after dollar printing plates that Breuberg is smuggling. But the plan doesn't work: Breuberg has already stored the printing plates at a transport company. As he flees in his car, he is pursued by Gabriel, the head of the gang. During the wild chase, Breuberg has a fatal accident in his car. Before Tom and Semir can make any further progress with their investigation, the gangsters hijack a courier company van in which they suspect the printing plates are. But the load only contains the front of the printing plates. The back is hidden in a later delivery. Gabriel plans to rob the second van. But the gangsters get a nasty surprise. Because Tom and Semir have been tipped off and are proving their special skills as courier drivers...

For Semir's colleague Tom, the case is clear, because all the evidence clearly points to Neumann being the perpetrator. But Semir remains skeptical. He simply cannot imagine that his former colleague is a murderer, and so he suspects Sandra, a friend of Neumann's, who is behaving strangely. But then Neumann and Sandra suddenly disappear without a trace. Apparently Tom was right with his suspicions after all. A hot lead leads to the Maria Laach monastery. When Tom and Semir reach Neumann's hiding place by helicopter, a chase for life and death begins...
