A drought in the area leaves everyone fractious. After the pub runs out of beer, Vic travels to Broken Hill to get some more leaving Lucy in control. Marty takes over after Lucy becomes ill but Emma is furious with him for abandoning his responsibilities at the garage.

Everybody is surprised after Barry, Geoff's brother, shows up in town. There is obvious friction between them and Geoff forces Barry to stay with Vic and Nancy. Barry is popular with the locals and he wastes no time in trying to seduce Kate, much to Geoff's annoyance. Barry also helps Marty find the car of his dreams and offers him a trip to 'Surfer's Paradise'. Geoff takes some drastic action to get his brother to leave town, but he soon finds out that he is not open to bribery.

Season 3 - Episode 40 - Aired 11/17/1988
Barry continues to make a play for Kate and she asks him out to dinner to annoy Geoff. Barry is having money problems and is unable to pay his tab. He also becomes aggressive after Kate turns down his advances. Geoff pays his brother's bar bill and purchases the car he ordered from the garage. Geoff is finally able to Barry to leave town after they are involved in a fight. Geoff attempts to make amends with Kate. She is fed up with his secretive nature though and decides that she is going to leave town.

A boxing troupe arrive and one of them is ex-champion Johnny Lawrence who is after Kate. Geoff is jealousy but keeps his distance. Johnny suffers a heart problem and has to give up boxing, so asks Kate to leave with him. Kate refuses stating its because of her love for Coopers Crossing, but Johnny tells her she loves Geoff.

A couple of air balloons drop in on the clinic run. As the Nomad is in for some expensive repairs, a balloon race is organised in order to help raise dome funds. Kate and Geoff compete in different balloons but things do not run according to plan afterone of the other competitors develops a hernia mid-flight.

Hurtle returns to the crossing driving a Rolls Royce, which is stolen, but he doesn't know. Constable O'Connor is advised to look out for the stolen car, so Hurtle and Vic start hiding it around the town. Jack returns and he finds out Hurtle and Vic are upto no good. Mike tells Chris he has asked his wife for a divorce, but receives a call saying his wife has taken the children back to France. he asks Chris to go with him but she refuses. Mike leaves, and Chris is left to cry on Jack's shoulder.

An old lady sells/gives away hen's with ""sarmonella"". She gave one to Chris- but she couldn't kill it so she had it as a domestic animal (good for her). DJ and his friends from Greece opens a resturang. Violet was on Bali and Emma in Sindney, it's a big party when they come home.

Sam and Emma gets married. Chris misses the whole wedding when she's stuck on a farm in the outback with a sick child and the mother. They has to go 2,5 miles in a terrible wheather. But the girl survives and Chris breaks down after it. Geoff comforts her.
