Victor tells Mavis that Derek is going to have to see a lot of Angela, which cause Mavis to believe that Derek is seeing Angela. Angie thinks that Jenny has another boyfriend.

Helping out at the charity shop, Percy has taken off his waistcoat, but when he goes to retrieve it, discovers that Ruby has sold it! After some indecision, Alec decides to agree to Phil's offer, and in return suggests the site of the former Graffiti Club for their new enterprise, to be called "The Alphibet Club" (from the names ALec + PHIl + BET). Bet is shocked to hear that renovation and set-up will cost £120,000. Joss has moved in with the Duckworths and Curly finds himself sleeping on the settee.

Alec continues to try and persuade Alf and Audrey to get Alf to stand for the Council seat, but without success. Curly blackmails Reg into changing his mind about chaperoning Raquel - Curly has the crucial evidence on the trolley-race scam (the book of raffle tickets) which he spirited from Reg's desk just before the investigator arrived. Dierdre advises Steph not to dig in her heels too hard, but Des appears to be getting her goat - which ends with Steph smashing a whole set of crockery. In the Rovers', Ken overhears Jim boasting to Alec about Andy's bookmaking scheme at school.

Audrey tells Gail she's staying at the Postgate Hotel. Gail tells Alf but he refuses to see her. Audrey discovers her credit card has been cancelled when she tries to settle her hotel bill to date. Rita tells Derek that his war with Des is breaking Mavis up. Des tells Mavis that he'll move the boat and put right the damage. Mavis decides not to tell Derek, knowing hell try to stop the boat move. Derek return home early to catch the crane moving the boat.He hangs onto the boat and is lifted off the ground. Phyllis does some cleaning for Alf. Don, Jim and Alf get drink on their fishing trip. Unseen by Jim and Alf, Don falls into the canal. Mike asks Phil to be his best man and he accepts.

Ivy refuses to stop on at the shop out of loyalty. She's starting at Bettabuys. Alma and Gail tell Audrey that she has to pull herself together.Rita feels sorry for Alf. She finds herself in a corner when he tells her she's the only woman ever to understand him. Rita lectures Audrey on what a mess she's making of her life and makes her see that she needs Alf. So Audrey goes to make up with Alf, but when she sees Ivy in the shop she changes her mind. Later, Ivy calls on Audrey to tell her Alf has collapsed I the shop and been taken to hospital. Ralph Dobson contacts Jackie and arranges a private meeting and during this meeting Ralph tells Jackie that his new firm wants to buy Ingrams. Deirdre discovers the arcade mangers haven't been paid recently and Dean tells her that Phil often has cash flow problems. Phil tells Mike he needs money for a deal and asks for a £6,000 loan. Mike says he can't help him until after the wedding. Emily returns home after enjoying the peace and tranquillity of Rhos on Sea.

Ivy is happy when Don goes to confession. Vera phones Doreen and is affronted when she puts the phone down on her. Jim and Liz agree that they enjoyed their night together but need to take things one step at a time. Jack fears that Vera will upset the Hortons and they'll never see Tommy again so Bet lets him take the day off and see them. Ivy is thrilled to entertain the Platts with a genuine family atmosphere. Jack feels defeated when the Hortons refuse to let him see Tommy again. They suggest he asks Terry. Don assures Ivy he wants to make her happy but avoids physical contact. Jack tells Vera they're going to have to fight for Tommy.

Mark overhears their row. Kevin is furious when Sally goes to visit Joe. Sally is unnerved when Joe takes it for granted that she's called because she wants him. She is furious when he tries emotional blackmail, using Jonathan missing her. He assures her that he'll always wait for her.

Mavis is upset by Derek's coldness towards her. She feels guilty that he was left behind on the motorway. Percy is taken aback to find out that Bernard is retiring from the church. Derek hides his suspension from the residents. Oakhill's Head, Mr Sammells, refuses to accept Mark for a scholarship but agrees to give Mike another term to pay the fees. Mavis tells Rita about Derek's suspension. Tanya is upset when her father, Dennis Pooley, dumps her stuff at the Rovers, calls her a slut and disowns her. She tells Bet how he caught her with her boyfriend who's married with two children. Fiona tackles all the customers about Ken's age. Alf goes for a fitting for his Mayoral robes. Tanya moves her stuff into the cafe flat. Des asks Raquel out but she has a date with Erik Mikaelson. A more upbeat Derek decides to fight for his job but is annoyed to find out that Mrs Jeffers has told all the staff, Ken included, of his suspension. Mike is adamant that Mark must stay at Oakhill, even if it costs him every penny he has.

Ken takes Denise walking in the country. Bernard is pleased when at last Percy wishes him well with Emily. Ken assures Denise that Deirdre is just a friend now. She enjoys relaxing with him. Reg is thrilled to accept an offer on his flat. Fiona shows an interest in Derek's products, saying that it's important to be environmentally friendly. He offers her a job as part of his sales team. The Holdsworths are stunned when Maud reveals that the house is still hers; she changed her mind about selling to the finance company. Reg fears Percy is after her because of the house. Ken and Denise realise they have nothing to rush back for so book a hotel room for the night.

Don worries that Denise will tell Ken about the phone calls. Sally gets Vera to babysit and hopes Rita doesn't find out about their night out. Reg discovers that when Maud marries Percy any wills will be void. Percy chats to Bernard and lets it slip about Emily's breakdown. Mike throws his money around at the Rovers so that no one will suspect he's going under.

Derek decides that he no longer wants to sell EnviroSphere products. Elaine Fenwick, still annoyed that Vera is employed at Bettabuy again, tries to get Curly to sack her but he refuses. Percy tells Maud of his plans to go to Normandy for the fiftieth anniversary of D-Day. Ken invites Denise to be his escort at a tree-planting ceremony at Weatherfield Comprehensive where Alf will officiate. Audrey refuses to get out of the car for the tree-planting as the grass will ruin her shoes. She remains in the car and flirts with Brian Bowes. Charlie Whelan supplies more illegal lager to the Corner Shop but Maureen is unhappy at the arrangement. Des and Tanya make plans to spend some time away together. Des tells Raquel that he is going away with work.
